In theory you are correct, but holy fuck for years batters would spend 40 seconds adjusting every bit of protection on them (battling gloves, helmet, elbow brace, etc) then the pitcher would spend another 40 seconds kicking the rubber, playing with the rosen bag, then staring down the batter.
I also hate the ghost runner at 2nd base in extra innings. If you want to do this in the 12th inning? Fine. But the 10th? No.

The thing is the optimization of baseball didn't "optimize". The amount of runs scored in 1991 is almost identical to the amount of runs scored today (you can't count the steroid era). So analytics didn't result in more runs, it just resulted in the same amount of runs only they get to them in a much more boring way now.
