His Suspiria was the first movie I saw of his and I decided I’d hate him for life because of it. But even though I went into Bones and All with a, “guilty until proven innocent” mentality, it still won me over. It’s a straightforward narrative movie, more of an occasionally grotesque drama than a horror movie. It’s like Claire Denis’s Trouble Every Day but 65% as good. One scene made me feel nauseous and faint which is ultra rare and has happened like 5 times.

Still, Luca remains on the suspicion list! Any time I see his name I prepare for the worst.

I fell asleep whilst watching it last night. I watched it from the beginning. I just finished it. It's a film I can't answer for. My internal monologue was killed by the film. My mind was silent. The film washed over my feet like the tide. In my opinion it's the Bestsson of the black and white era. Mouchette is my favourite model. The Bressonian technique is to extract the "automatic" from the model. Mouchette really felt like a girl who was being candid camera'd without her knowledge. I wonder if it was really the best one so far or if reading Bobby's book just gave me more of an appreciation for and insight into his spiritual quest. Wow!

continuing my trip around the world. this time I'm stopping in the Congo with a fun, little documentary exploring three subcultures all centered around Brazzaville, Congo, supposedly voted the worst city to live around the time of the documentary. our three groups here are the SAPEs, fancy niggas who like to dress up in expensive suits and strut around Brazzaville, Yaya Palmas, a Congolese wrestler who uses African magic to win his matches, and Cheriff Bakala, a rapper and the least interesting subject of the documentary. all in all it's an entertaining look under the hood at some of the things that go on in the city of Brazzaville, a place I would have never even heard of if not for this documentary. it's not even an hour long if anyone is interested. would recommend. 7/10
