Good thread OP. My Buffy reboot:
>set in the nineties
>similar equipment and aesthetic to seasons 1-3
>intentionally dated practical effects
>update the whedon quips to be more R-rated and vulgar which is how the kids talk these days
>add some drug/sex content for modern audiences as well
>focus more on the horror element of the show, add lots of corny practical gore
Practical effects and 90s nostalgia are what the zoomer craves

Buffy wasn't good it was just a right place and time show. It holds up worst than Murphy Brown. It has plenty of cool parts but overall it's a mess of a show
