Masters of the Universe 2026
Now that Superman is out, let’s talk about the next big kino. The Masters of the Universe movie is coming on June 5, 2026—only in theaters. Directed by Travis Knight (ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings, Transformers: Bumblebee), and starring Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, the film reportedly has a budget of around $200 million. Dolph Lundgren is rumored to make a cameo as King Grayskull.

The movie is said to be set 20% on Earth and 80% on Eternia, and it's reportedly very faithful to the 1980s cartoon and toy line. Honestly, I think this could be the next big event of 2026, the next Star Wars-like franchise. It has real potential.

Let’s discuss: What are your hopes, plot theories, rumors you've heard, and predictions for the box office?

But He Man will be only 10-15 minutes of the 2 hour movie. Lundgren was all on Earth minus 10 minutes on Eternia

It must be nice to be an 80’s toy franchise and get to enjoy a new reboot every 10 years until the end of time.

I am so conflicted on this. On the one hand, I like this actress. Even if Riverdale was garbage she was at least good in it, and she's hot. On the other I fucking loathe redhead raceswaps (which they've done for basically every redheaded character in this film).
But at least they dyed her hair.

A lot of 90s franchises were either continuations, or imitations, of 80s properties. Street Sharks, Biker Mice From Mars, were both TMNT rip-offs.
The few original programs like Captain Planet have ended up just being referenced in with shows like Funny or Die, Robot Chicken, and of course Rick and Morty.
For some reason most millennials want to create bullshit "original" programs that are just scatter-shot references to the things they grew up with. Like how Star Butterfly vs. The Forces of Evil is just Sailor Moon.

90s had more funny, shorter cartoons. 80s was endless heroes vs bad guys toyline cartoons.

After the Netflix series that Kevin Smith made, I don't want to see a Masters of the Universe movie. The 1987 one with Dolph and Langella is still comfy and everybody overlooks the 2000's remake series.

Dear Christ I just realised in like 15/20 years Hollywood is going to try doing big-screen live-action movies of shit like Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and fucking Star vs. The Forces of Evil.

5 year tops, capeshit is dying and live-action of classic animations are not working. They just need one of these to work (Adventure Time probably) to create a new fade for the next 10-15 years.

I'd expect a live-action Stephen Universe show on Netflix within the decade, it's the perfect brand for nostalgia-baiting millennial who will by then be in their mid to late 30s
Anonymous No.212668345
>>212663599
I don’t think so. 80’s nostalgiawank has been going on longer than the actual decade, with no signs of slowing down. I think it’s more likely we just keep rebooting 80’s IPs in an endless cycle for a ‘new generation’ every ten years. So in the 2030s we’ll still be getting new iterations of TMNT and Transformers and Ghost Busters.
