This is profoundly upsetting to me on every level, i want to smash my computer and go live in the woods for 20 years. Humanity is devolving rapidly, or maybe it's just a garbage phase. I hope the latter.

Why? This movie is a huge flop outside of the US where it only got that big opening weekend because of US-specific cultural shitfighting. In Europe, no one this movie is coming out and they're watching the Formula 1 movie instead.

I loved this movie. Too many cynics nowadays. This is a proper comic book movie that isnt afraid to be messy go in different tangents. It puts Superman back on track and corrects God complex that Snyder and Singers egos ruined the character with. Im going to see it again and I want a trilogy with these actors in this universe. The first real progression of Superman as a character in film since 1978

Aside from the movie itself, what I find far more depressing is the current state of the internet these days. Discussions are completely polarized, with people taking sides and insulting each other. The war going on over this film right now is one of the most pathetic things I've seen in recent years. Every time I think 4chan and this board are in a shitty state, it somehow gets even worse.

As I remember it, years ago there used to be many more genuine discussions about movies or series. I'm not just talking about those moments when the board focuses on the big release of the moment, that's normal and has always happened, I mean the average day-to-day quality has dropped drastically. Even when a good or decent film comes out, there's no discussion, people just dismiss everything with negative buzzwords, also they donโ€™t go to the cinema to see anything that isnโ€™t capeslop, and then they complain when capeslop is successful.

Yeah but that's because they spent almost nothing on marketing outside of america. This flick will break even by next weekend, it's already ahead of thunderbolts which was an assemble movie by the competition. It's a success if not a hit (because of Trump)

The youtube goon squad is out in full force proclaiming this movie as a woke disaster. All their fans are just parroting their opinion. The reputation of this movie will grow over time imo. Its not any messier than a marvel movie and has a scope which Marvel movies could only fumble with.

that's true although those actual discussion threads that actually lasted 100+ posts were rare even a decade ago. but at that time human-submitted threads were intentionally low-quality and off-topic (e.g. random image with a period). the janitors took entire afternoons and evenings off and let karaboga posting and other "hilarious" spam extend into the night.

today I see more bot threads and third-worlders posting but at least they are remaining tangentially on the topic of Television & Film. pick your poison. i just come here for waifu threads.

Gunn doesn't respect God. Superman has always been understand to be the cultural symbol that is the closest people have to make the connection to God. Our Heavenly Father. So because Gunn doesn't have that same reverence or love for his own father he projected incorrectly onto the movie by simply having Clark constantly unable to command dogs to do things. Dogs are man's best friend. If a man can't get a dog to do something then he's insecure and the dog can pick up on it or the dog is stupid. But being able to just will a dog into silence with your voice alone or intimidating them shouldn't be hard. Gunn can't do that. So he wrote his frustrations with his mutt into the movie and as a man I just can't respect watching another man not be able to control a small 4-legged animal. It bothers me.

Apparently Superman gets beat up entirely too much the whole film. Awful way to introduce the leader of your franchise. He doesn't get enough respect. There isn't enough awe and general reverence of Him and what he represents.
>Hey Superman maybe you shouldn't have done that thing where you saved those people.

Yeah way to try and actively de-motivate the one guy who does this out of the pureness of his heart when he could actively just not do anything. Lois in that interview was representing western society and women as a whole.
>Yes, you acted immediately and took charge of a hostile situation. But you didn't reach consensus!
That's the woman in her talking. It doesn't understand the world Clark in. Lois needs to learn that she isn't going to get the answers she's looking for by playing the game in a way Clark doesn't like. Clark can be malleable for Lois. Superman doesn't bend in his ideals. He represents the masculine trait of taking charge for the benefit of all. He's supposed to be the bridge to God and thus supreme fatherhood and leadership. We respect him for it. When Clark opens his mouth he's usually right or making everyone feel at ease. Gunn can't write that.

There were plenty of quality threads about Andor. Same with Severance

If there is something worth talking about Anons will make quality threads about it. It's just this Netflix Original tier slop like Superman where you're better off just shitposting rather than dissecting and analyzing something that was clearly meant to simply be consoomed as 'content' like this Superman movie. Don't overthink it.
