however there are other remasters like LotR or anything James Cameron where the directors themselves make the changes. they saw all the dailies, all the rough cuts, over and over, and now they sit in front of computer software that makes it look new and different than it did 20-30 years ago. they press that color button and it makes them happy. that's why James Cameron and many other directors can no longer be trusted to review their old movies, they just can't help but behave like Lucas.
