The kayfabe explanation for it isn't the real reason why it won't happen. It's all fictional stories and they can always work in anyway as long as the writers put in the effort and realize the comics always operated like that. Trouble is, Gunn and Reeves despise each other behind the scenes and Reeves doesn't answer to him, he answers directly to WB only. Gunn can't actually make ANYTHING in the DCU with the Batman in it and that's the one restriction WB has imposed on him and it's PISSING him off massively.

Will NEVER happen and has never been received well by Reeves or Pattinson. They both are of the Todd Phillips/Christopher Nolan school of thought and view DC as a vehicle for their own ideas and concepts rather than respect is as an entity. They view the Gunnverse as being incredibly beneath them and would never be associated with it. None of the actors in Superman would ever, ever be in The Batman.

Genuinely insane its taking them so long to do The Batman 2. He's supposed to be a zoomer Batman but he's going to be older than all the previous Batman actors were by the time the 2nd movie comes out. They are going to have to hand wave a load of shit happening off screen between the 2 movies with a several year time jump.

Not the same thing at all. Bale and Cavill Batman/Superman were clearly made/conceived in the same exact vein and by the exact same people. The movies had the same title style, the same tone and aesthetic and were meant to be in the same general world but that didn't mean they HAD to crossover. While Pattinson and Corenswet are polar opposites in every way possible.

I think his schtick works with Superman cause the general audience doesn't care or respect Superman at all to protest about Gunn raping him but if he dares to do this crap to Batman, people will definitely revolt. The character has too much prestige history to be devolved to that. Don't forget, the premium Batman incarnation is still Nolan's and most people expect that hence why Pattinson was just more of the same.
