First 3 seasons are maximum comfy for me because, monster shit aside, it's a great snapshot of high school in the 90s.

It's the example of American programming where they hire people who are attractive but terrible actors to play roles they're not really suited for. However, saying that, James Marsters, when I watched it in the 90's, I thought was actually British he did such a good accent. So, yeah? If you can get over the bad acting.

Yeah it's still a great show. I usually watch it every 2-3 years. Season 1 is a bit rough with its monster of the week episodes though. Seasons have strong and weak spots with them generally getting weaker towards the end but still enough bright spots and character driven fun to keep it worth watching.

Monster of the week episodes are the best. This goes for every show, be it supernatural, x files, you name it. Fucking “golden age of television” made everyone think you needed a multi season plot line to carry a show. Just let me watch a self contained episode and not have to watch the soap opera for a year.
