>let's fucking adapt it into a fucking War of the Worlds movie with Dune lore
Snydercels piss me off with how utterly tasteless they are. I enjoy Superman. I enjoy Dune. The two IPs are tonally and thematically nothing alike. If you don't want to make a movie that feels like a comic book, why the fuck did you decide to adapt a comic book?

Yeah, a couple Jews wanted to adapt Moses into a more contemporary and lighthearted context. That's why they invented a more suitable character as a vehicle for the different tone they wanted their story to convey. If they just wanted to tell the story straight they would have made the Ten Commandments. Swear to god, some of you idiots understanding nothing about storytelling.

There were a few bad oversights basically, not deliberate character assassination or anything but they simply failed to understand the implications of their setpieces
>Clark has zero guilt or self reflection about how HE was the guy that brought the fight away from sparsely populated farmland and into Smallville
>not all that sad or angry over seeing the ruins of Metropolis which killed thousands
Like the movie improves massively if Clark has some guilt over Smallville and his rage when Zod reveals himself as still alive and still there is really present but he's containing it so he can try and talk some sense into his foe.

I do believe all that weight is seen in the second film. He literally has to call his mom in the middle of his sleep for comfort from all the stress. He even CHOOSES to hike up a death valley mountain, to reflect on everything too. Including the passing of his father which is at the summits peak. I think those 2 scenes in BvS alone capture a more human Clark that has even been explored before.

Only things I didn't like about MoS:
>The dad for some reason volunteering to go save the dog instead of letting Clarke do it, leading to the famous "stop, my invincible son" line.
It's also stupid that he denied Clarke from running to save him. He was about 150m away, Clarke just needed maybe 8 seconds to get there. That's like 1.6 times faster than Usain Bolt, nobody everyone would notice it's pretty fast but not so much like a speeding bullet where somebody during a hurricane would say "that's INSANE"

I am not doubting that over 100 years of Superman comics there are some stories with a resurrection theme or metaphor in them. I am stating that
1) The original Superman story is not about that, though I can see why one might be tempted to adapt Superman into a Christ allegory.

2) Man of Steel specifically does not have a resurrection metaphor. It uses a lot of superficial iconography, but it forgets to depict the actual resurrection event. Superman doesn't die or have a near death experience that he comes back from. Which is hilarious because the Phantom Zone is RIGHT FUCKING THERE and despite trying to push the Jesus allegory so hard Snyder never thinks to himself "ya know, Superman being banished to and then coming back from the Phantom Zone would be a great way to work in the resurrection metaphor". Because Snyder is a total hack who doesn't know how to write a good story.

>>212704987
>Anon the story of superman is literally also the story of the resurrection
No it isn't. Where's the rebirth? I can see the immaculate conception and birth of Christ allegory. I do not see a rebirth metaphor in either Superman or Man of Steel.

Okay I read the plot synopsis on wikipedia
>"Superman, already weakened by kryptonite exposure, is fatally wounded by the creature before it dies."
>"A memorial is held for Superman in Metropolis, while Bruce and Diana attend a funeral for Clark, who was also declared dead. Martha gives Lois an envelope containing an engagement ring from Clark. Bruce tells Diana that he regrets failing Superman and asks for her help in forming a team of metahumans to protect Earth in Superman's absence. As they leave, the dirt atop Clark's coffin levitates."
Okay fine. In the movie where Batman and Superman stop fighting each other because their mothers are both named "Martha", there is a genuine resurrection allegory.

>>212705527
>the Jesus metaphor is quite popular with Superman though
Yeah, because it's obvious. When something is that obvious, you should figure out a unique angle. Like I don't know, maybe Superman dies while he's Clark Kent because Jesus presented himself as a humble carpenter.
>>212705536
>BvS Ultimate Edition is actually what I would define as kino (a serious film that has prophetic dream sequences).
Fucking everything has a prophetic dream sequence. It's one of the most well-worn storytelling contrivances. Dune has prophetic dream sequences. Final Destination has prophetic dream sequences. Fucking Digimon, an animated children's cartoon designed to sell toy merchandise, has a prophetic dream sequence. I'm playing Expedition 33 right now and THAT has prophetic dream sequences. Merely having a prophetic dream sequence does not make a film original or sophisticated in any way.

the MCU always felt like processed food while Synder DC was a deafening monochromatic nightmare. the happy medium was a long time coming.
