>thread wasn't even saging nor near pg 10
we all love trek but don't waste part of a thread. wait til its dying on page 7
>>212708961 (OP)Searching kirk vs picard can really dig up some rage bait
>>212709061Based apu using a dermal regenerator on Spot
>>212708665>That too. And the insistence on total serialization. Entire seasons of STD and SPIC are that "ten episode movie" format that does not lend itself well to rewatches. Only SNW is episodic in the traditional sense but it's very twee and shitty remakes of existing storiesIt's fine to have an overarching plot, but the majority of the shows should be episodic. They wanted to make a prestige show, which trek is too fantastical for anyway. They ended up making a prestige show for no one. Serious TV fans aren't going to flock to nutrek and the majority of the shows are just browbeating trekkies for believing in progress. Fucking picard was made for people who obsess over tng and wanted all the characters to be miserable in their own age, or put another way, it was a show for people who don't exist
If you can't admit Kirk is the best captain you are simply not being real and true to your own heart
By every metric, even sex, Janeway is the best captain.
>>212709145It should be
1. Captain Archer
2. Captain Archer
3. Every other captain
>>212709300You would have died alone on some distant alien planet wondering why your red shirt was oozing away from you.
>>212709431Actually a lot of red shirts died due to their own stupidity and carelessness and not because of Kirk's orders
>>212709431Both Picard and Sisko have deliberately murdered their officers
>>212709411It should be
>Captain from show I watched before the other ones>Other shows captains>Captain of the show I know the anon who insulted me last thread likes
>>212709431Forcibly relocating someone to a small room against their will is immoral. Therefore by Picard's gay logic locking a known child murderer away in Prison is as reprehensible as smashing a kids head in with a sledgehammer and the child murderer should just be allowed to get away with it
>>212709467Wesley sure brings that side of us out
>>212709293The majority of people who actually liked this were those who already had a hateboner for TNG and its "unrealistic" ideals
>>212709543>>212709486>>212709431Nice to see all the anons jumping on the thread theme
I can
remember when lore and data are fighting and then wesley beams lore into space but they dont make sure lore is dead?
that was stupid
>>212709300if i were on one of the ships, i'd prefer kirk or archer. when archer decided to go into the expanse he gave crew members the chance to step off. picard on the other hand took every opportunity he could to put his ship with entire families aboard right in the crosshairs of enemies
>>212709614i like to think about it like this. fewer than 250k people saw it at all.
>>212709670>took every opportunity he could to put his ship with entire families aboard right in the crosshairs of enemiesyeah good point Archer didn't ever do that at all
>>212709614>>212709293I have a lot of screenshots from that boomer forum TrekBBS where they say
>I loved that admiral lady telling Picard he had sheer FUCKING hubris! It's about time he got knocked down a peg! I love my shows when they get all meta and self aware. They all call themselves liberal yet many of them hate Jean-Luc for being what they consider an idealist.
>>212709614I'd say the majority of people who liked it are about half the people who made it and that isn't disagreeing with your point at all
>>212709692Really? That's fucking grim
>>212709771Please dump them, this is a pain stick thread
>>212709841I won't argue with that
>>212709494This anon is objectively correct
archer had a lot of deaths but he also slowed down to talk about it more than anyone else
kirks men knew what they signed up for
picard killed hundreds because he was too impatient to seprate the ship
sisko is amoral human trash
janeway picked up new crew members so you wouldnt notice your friends all died
final ranking
kirk
archer
janeway
TOS Pike
picard
jellico
sulu
benteen
white april

decker
sisko
>>212709864>AGGHHHHHHHHHWho has the best pain voice in Star Trek?
I gotta go with Odo
>>212709804i made that number up but when they put season 1 of lower drecks on youtube for free it only got 50k views so i think im in the ballpark. no one is watching this trash
>>212709726in silent enemy he was ready to turn the ship around after realizing they needed the phase cannons because not every species was going to be nice. no captains are consistent in writing if you look enough. but of the choices, yes kirk and archer over the others. whose ship would you have liked to be on?
I'm an incel, which captain would give me the best advice for getting a gf?
>>212709919Archer kept trying to kill himself because he was too scared to order anyone to their death. Literally the responsibility of the captain and he was too much of a pussy and shirked it. He endangered the mission to save his own fucking feelings. I actually hate Archer.
>>212709996Kirk obviously. He's the most relatable captain, the guy who would find it easiest to talk to the common man and give frank advice. After that, Sisko. Picard would just look at you like you were out of line unless you were one of his like 2 true friends in the world. Janeway would be too busy destroying technology that could get Voyager home to reply.
Janewayโs crew had the highest survival rate and she was the most personable.
>>212710006ent isnt like the other series. the mission is more important than the captain. its earths first real attempt at interstellar exploration. better to come back without the captain than to be lost with all hands
>>212709984I think I'd be fine with anyone except Archer desu. i just can't get the episode Proving Grounds out of my head I think I would have had a nervous breakdown if I saw my captain bend over and get fucked so hard by aliens who weren't even trying
>>212710063in ENT there's an episode where you see what happens to the mission with Archer incapacitated and it fails. the mission fails. and even after that he still keeps pulling his crew out of the chair so he can do suicide runs himself.
>>212709961Nog when his leg blows off
>>212710028only if you dont count the first episode where half her crew dies
sisko has the fewest deaths but mostly because they dont go anywhere. i think there are only 2 or 3 episodes where they do a traditonal away mission and bring someone who isnt a main character or impervious guest
>>212709982>lower drecksI call it trek & morty
>>212710146Kek, that's a great girlish scream.
Simply need TNG on Blu-Ray & I will have the main 5 on disc & will no longer need to suck the streaming cock to get my fix.
Love they kept the original effects on TOS discs.
>>212710226I have TNG S1 on DVD, its the weakest season but came with a cool poster
>>212710023>After that, Sisko.Sisko was the only one who canonically gave his son relationship advice
>>212710151Picard lost an entire ship
Sisko also lost one
>>212710260Yeah and Jake grew up a little bitch nigga, Nog became a captain
>>212710260Sisko is a worse father than Worf
>>212709961I'm gonna nominate, not Nimoy
>>212710293nog didnt make captain. old jake killed himself, jadiza, and took nogs leg, to bring sisko back. nog just wasted away on ds9

>>212710352That is objectively false.
>>212710823He pushed the klingon away from saavik then got stabbed immediately
Star Trek III is the worst TOS movie. You reject me because you reject the truth.
>>212710255i have a big framed picture of a galaxy msd like picrel that my uncle gave me, used to hang in his office. its in storage now though. i also got us shirts made that have the pic of picard with a guitar that says 'darmok & jalad, at tanagra, sept 1994' as like a band shirt. only trek memorabilia i've ever bothered with even though i'd like one of quark's mugs (with the music intact)
>>212711016I've been saying this for years anon, so I embrace you, as a brother.
>>212711016It's very boring, Kirk simply going "goodbye David" when compared to his reaction to Spock's death is crazy. They fucking blew up THE ENTERPRISE then continued the series with a knockoff for 2 movies.
TOS movies ranked: VI>II=TMP>IV>V>III. I only have Voyage Home over Final Frontier because the cornball tropes such as the Planet of Galactic Peace knocking off Star Wars sucked so much & you at least have some fun in Voyage Home.
>>212711016It's definitely not great but I'm not a big fan of the god one either

>>212711188At least V has stuff like
>>212711297 and Kirk climbing a mountain (why is he climbing a mountain?) along with some kino frames. III looks like a television episode and is pure goofball shit. Christopher Lloyd plays the worst Klingon I've ever seen. What the fuck was that. And Kirk's son's death was just a weak attempt to create some sort of drama. It's so stupid.
>>212711389I thought you were talking David's death in 3

>>212712285>all the ds9 bad guys were pretty greatthey all understood the assignments and made the characters come alive what more could you ask for? the bad guys make the show.
I don't see what's so interesting about characters like Damar and Weyoun.

>>212712285>that prettyboy vortaI was really happy to see his actor on Enterprise. he was a Suliban and an Andorian
Too many bad dad's in star trek to decide. Picrel was the worst grandpa though
>>212712868one of ent's saving graces was the guest cast, and that isn't new to the franchise then either though. trek in general, i used to love watching who the char of the week was. you knew immediately when its a love interest they were going to kill them
>>212711665>>212712812>I gotta represent this guy, Khaless Qo'nos
>>212713136i remember seeing this and the twist got me too. robin hood turned out to be a cool dude that day. still stands that any time a main cast member falls in love, the love gets killed/torn away in some fashion by the end of the ep. half of all harry kim and 90% of jadzia eps.
>>212713082Wasn't Odo a Starfleet nerd giving a flipchart presentation
>>212713230They should have brought back Okana just to kill him. The line where troi say "im sensing irreverance, no hostility. He's a rougue" would be the cringiest thing in all of TNG if not for picrel being from the same episode
>>212713335Yeah and I think he was one of the assassin's as well

>>212713830Kinda makes sense, you might not want your plans for the downfall of your greatest enemy digital. But then again how did you print it?
blowing up romulus was pretty dumb but pretending the romulan star empire couldnt handle its own refugees is absolutely retarded.
>>212713382i wish they brought that hologram back. him trying to teach data how to be funny and data taking only a few points and ending up with a cigar in his mouth and moving his hands back and forth is peak humor and 100000000% apt to whats going on in ai right now
>>212713963100%, but them reaching out to the federation for help and being turned down is even dumber. But then having android illegal because of android terrorism is also really dumb. But then having androids do a space terrorism because romulan witches saw a robotic eldritch monster in the future was really really dumb. But then turning picard into an android because of the space witches, the android terrorism and the space octopus was really really really dumb.

>>212714780>>212714862You know if mad magazine still existed they could lampoon Picard by just writing an earnest well written plot true to the characters
>>212709293> Fucking picard was made for people who obsess over tng and wanted all the characters to be miserable in their own age, or put another way, it was a show for people who don't existThereโs an ongoing crusade to take beloved 80โs icons like Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones, and Jean-Luc Picard, and make them miserable old men. Itโs all a deliberate movement to kill white male heroes and have a diverse cadre of women and minorities rise from their ashes.
>>212715307>pointy vulcan titsits fun to laugh
>people shitting on The Search For Spock
It's better than VI, V and I
Spock was his close friend that Kirk knew and worked beside for years, he barely knew David so of course Spock's death is more impactful. He literally met David the day before.
TMP is a boring slog of a movie with nothing but style over substance
VI is the single most overrated shit in all of Trek, it's very similar to All Good Things in that it is utterly mediocre and plot hole ridden but it gets a pass by virtue of signing off the main cast without shitting the bed.
V at least has TWO memorable scenes (share your pain, why does God need a starship) which makes it a better film than VI, which has only one memorable scene.
The holy trinity of Star Trek kino is II, III and IV
>>212715397It is. It was a simpler time
remember when Spock was horny for that cloudian girl on that one apartheid planet and he was meditating like
>damn she's so cute I hope she doesn't actually believe in this race realism and segregation shit
and then they almost fucked but he realized she was into the slavery thing and lost his boner and gave her a lecture

>>212713382>>212714056Outrageous Okana is so proud of its cringe that Iโve gone from hating to loving it. Itโs like a time capsule of cheesy 80โs sitcoms. Seriously. If someone younger than me asked what TV was like in the 80โs. Iโd show them this episode before anything else.
>>212715751Yeah I watched it last night and I still cringe at it. Though I was laughing my ass off at data acting retarded aka doing a Jerry Lewis impression

>>212716097david was FAGGOT who died from AIDS
>>212715453>a better film than VI, which has only one memorable sceneAre you high?
Its got the whole dinner scene
Kirk fucking with Valeris when they're leaving space dock
The top tier bants from Imam "must have been a life long ambition!" when she transforms into kirk and he complains about kissing her.
Chang reciting Shakespeare
The whole courtroom scene
Second star to the right... and straight on 'till morning!
FLY HER APART THEN!
Chekov's being a smug dipshit when he thinks he's figured out who's gravity boots they have.
VI is a fantastic movie all around that closes out the classic TOS era of movies by making peace with the klingons and giving our cast their chance to literally ride off into the sunset.
>>212715002Itโs weird they drew morn on the cover, especially with it being done while season one was on the air

Super based
>>212716320I'm pretty sure the guys at mad got advanced screenings of movies since the parodies were free publicity and I'd bet more than a couple.mad staffers were trekkies
>>212716320He was the re-occurring ayy lmao extra.
I remember morn specifically being singled out in the pre-release hype train for DS9.
I suspect because it didn't really require a lot of makeup, you just put on the morn helmet, and the puffy vest made out of the upholstery from your dad's car.
>>212716328>has two little retractable blades for extra stabbingLove it
>>212714862he only had so much leave
>>212716097Not either of those two but I genuinely rate search for spock a lot higher than most.
The opening act where they're all back on earth, and you get to see the hilarious future-wear of the 1970's, and sulu's swag-as-fuck leather cape/jacket thing.
I'd say its a really solid movie up until Kirk saves the day by punching Doc. Br'awn off a cliff, always felt like a cheap lazy ending.
I also like the larger arc between Khan, Spock, and the one with the whales. All the movies are satisfying and self contained, but they do have a larger plot they're moving forward with some top tier growth for characters who came from a tv series where they never got to have any growth because of the episodic nature.
>>212716568>Iโm resigning to go fuck my girlfriend >aight
>>212716604All the TOS Movies are good. Some are gooder than others. 6 is my favorite, but all TOS movies are light years ahead of the TNG movies.
TSFS has some kino moments but overall it's the weakest of the trilogy. Immediately writing off the "next generation" that TWOK had set up was cheap too.
>>212712585Every Damar scene is just him getting drunk and weakly protesting. One dimensional. Weyoun has more going on but even then it's never anything beyond his evil guy plotting. Also you posted Jadzia one of the shittiest characters of all time.
>>212716651>Ben... did I ever tell you about the time I conspired with the klingons to maintain our eternal cold war for human supremacy and was sentenced to a hundred years in suspended animation for my crimes of treason to the federation where I was supplied a false identity and relocared to new orleans?
>>212716846I don't know pops but I sure love war crimes ... I mean gumbo
>>212715632>I miss earnestnessWe lost earnestness and sincerity somewhere in the 2000's where everything had to be X-TREME and full of 'TUDE. I still get surprised whenever I see two characters express affection or appreciation for each other, without being undercut by a self aware joke.
>>212716841I don't care. (You) are retarded.
>>212715453Iโm interested in what you think the one memorable scene in VI is. Because Spockโs force mind meld with Varis is one of my favorite scenes in all of trek and the conversation he has with Kirk right after about getting old is perfect
>>212716894I miss shows that don't insult their audience too.
>>212716841>Every Damar scene is just him getting drunk and weakly protesting.Up until the last season and he gets a little more to do as he leads the cardassian resistance against the dominion.
Its also nice to have a cardassian who isn't Dukat or Garak.
>>212716952There was Gul "Unfortunately, he commited suicide" Evek.
Damar is memorable and font of charisma even in scenes that aren't "Damar scenes." He's always reacting to stuff going on in character, Casey Biggs is just a great actor
>>212716903Seething retard.
>>212716894>2000's where everything had to be X-TREME and full of 'TUDEThat was the 90's.
the 2000's were the post 9/11 grimdark era.
That being said, someone who was 18 in 2001, enterprise genuinely helped me kind of cope and detach from reality for an hour of something familiar and comfy and hopeful.
Shame it crept in with the xindi arc being 9/11 in space as the inciting incident, but it still managed to tell some solid trek, and I think the xindi arc was a better season of voyager than voyager ever managed. It was a season long year of hell.

I was watching the episode where Dukat and his stolen bird of prey drop off sisko and the crew to infiltrate the meeting, and I had an image of a series where dukat wrangles the cardassian government into shape, and instead of switching sides for no good reason, you had a redemption arc where cardassia is fighting against the dominion and trying to rebuild from the klingons kicking their shit in, but being too proud to stay in the back and he learns to be a real leader and diplomat and becomes a hero that helps cardassia to reform in the wake of the war, sort of like damar's final turn, but built up over a couple seasons.
>lightning sandstorm
was a normal sandstorm not alien enough or something?
>>212722813The entire Damar angle should have been Dukat.

In a lot of ways, Lower Decks is Star Trek's The Clone Wars, but with multiple Ahsokas.
>>212722707Ensign Sito? More like Ensign Sexo. How can Ro Larenfags even compete
>>212722844it couldn't have been Dukat because he didn't actually care about Cardassia. Damar unironically did.
>>212722890Laren could, in theory, hold her down and do anything she wanted to her.
>>212722913Yeah I guess thatโs hotter but not because of Ro, just because of the circumstance
>>212722909>because he didn't actually care about CardassiaHe clearly did, up until they started writing him the other way, he at one point sacrificed everything he had in life to fight for Cardassia, that "yeah Damar, what kind of people give those orders" scene would have been so much better if it was Dukat
>>212722959>He clearly didno he didn't. he cared about Dukat. Damar should have been the one to realize this and put him down. Dukat should have been in place of the Rusot character. the guy holding on to the past who just doesn't GET IT and has to be taken out.

As transporter chief, O'Brien would have had a really good grasp on the transporter accident in Rascals, and potentially could have had Keiko undergo the procedure any number of times. He knows how to reverse it of course, so it isn't permanent.

I just reconcile it as the notes get passed back to starfleet command, and some researcher on some starbase fucks around with it.
But really, the whole premise of star trek is that the cast are (mostly) just normal humans, they aren't supermen, or more highly evolved, its just what happens when you put people in a setting where almost all of your material needs are trivial to meet, and everyone is raised on an equal playing field where the sky's the limit.
That premise starts to get fucked with if you turn everyone into a BCI'd genetically enhanced cyborg ubermench.

The Ferengi were a greater military power than Cardassia. A Marauder could go toe to toe with the Enterprise and be taken seriously. A Galor gets the jump on the Enterprise, and Riker just says "what is he doing?" like the Cardassian must be a total retard to even try it. Worf was practically laughing at them.
>>212724997i have a feeling that ferengi tech varies from ship/group to group due to piracy and personal trades.
>Andorians are building the Xindi weapon
Please god someone point out how it's Archer's fault for being a total retard and letting them get it in the first place. Preferably Shran.
>>212724997Isn't that the irony of Cardassians? They look down on Bajorans for not being at their tech level but in reality Cardassians are basically backwater compared to the rest of the quadrant.
