>>212715502she's canadian
This movie made no sense. It's like they ran out of budget, so they spliced together whatever they could for the movie. The poster is also misleading. It looks like a grand temple here, but it's actually a tiny rundown shack in the middle of the woods that looks more like an outhouse.
>>212715386Kino, thanks for these.
>>212715371I go into thrift shops on occasion and they want $2 - $2.50 per DVD and I'm like "nah, I gotta 720p version on a hard drive somewhere".
>>212715611Those fuckers did that with one of the Heretic posters too. I expected a big maze.
Also didn't get a giant robot John Kramer in Saw 3D. I want to see him fight Gamera.
>>212715818Based. I stick with 1080p 99% of the time unless it only came out on DVD.
Should I watch the original Invisible Man from the 30s, bros?
>>212716252Yeah it's one of the best of the era. He also has a higher kill count than all the remakes combined
>>212715950I don't even care about 1080p most of the time, 720p is fine. I recently had to downgrade from a nice 32" monitor to a 24" one and it's fine.
>>212716252Yes. I wasn't that into the conceptv so put it off but it's actually great.

>>212716567I just bought a 32 inch 4k to watch kino on, arriving this week. I don't have the room for a tv so that was like a compromise. I did go for one with good contrast though so interested to see how the deeper blacks improve horror movies.

>>212719401Opera has one of my favourite secret passages but it's not in any way better than People Under the Stairs. I don't think anything can really compete
>>212719401I think I might actually have this record. Some years ago terrorvision had some deal where you could pay like $80 and get every release for the next year and I'm pretty sure that was one of them + i got a discount and got the deluxe version of the unsolved mysteries records for like $19
>>212719415apparently it did. I've only watched it a couple times on streaming. I thought it was a pretty fun cheesy 80s slasher.
>>212719444I like the whole 'cursed record' aspect. Yeah, Gene Simmons and Ozzy only really have cameos, but I thought Ozzy playing the pearl clutching priest was funny. Would you really want to watch a movie they had a major role in? It's not like they're good actors...
>>212719587Nice
>the unsolved mysteries recordsThat's a banger. I listen to them on YouTube sometimes.
I also watched a pretty meh one recently called Housebound I guess is sort of a secret passage movie.
>>212719429>CaveatI haven't seen that. I'll check it out.
>>212719500>OperaYes, but I wouldn't say secret passages are a really prominent theme overall in that one.
>>212719663>Ozzy playing the pearl clutching priestI guess the "irony" of him accusing the band in the film of the same stuff he was accused of in that era loses it's context on modern audiences though.
>>212719155>The Haunting (both)>Legend of Hell House>The Changeling>Rose Red
>>212719951>I wouldn't sayI wouldn't either, it's just my favourite. There are plenty of movies with more or better secret passages.

That was one of the endings of all time. Controversial ending aside it was good, also thought The Fog and this were the same movie before double checking.
>>212713949I want to see the movie in full detail. 4k is a nice luxury, but 1080p is still great. I don't like to go lower than that, though I will if I have to.
There are movies I refuse to watch until there's a proper HD release for them.
>>212721187I like The Fog more, not sure why people kind of rate it middling. It has such a great setting and atmosphere. I get the monsters aren't that scary but who cares.
>>212721187Very good movie and very faithful to the short story.
>>212721232The Fog is another of those movies that I like both the original and remake.
>>212721226I agree, I regret watching shitty 600mb videos on my laptop when I was younger now. Rewatching those movies I'm like damn these are way better than I remember and it's down to horror being such a visual genre. Not saying you need an amazing setup, obviously found footage films do fine. But at some point you are severely damaging you're kino experience.
watch Missing Child Videotape. It just came out, and it's good. Especially if you like Kairo or Blair Witch.
that film again, Missing Child Videotape.

>>212725180All the actors were great and the directing was good. The others just banked on the concept and jim from the office but had bad directing and a bad script.

>>212725473idk if I'd call that good. It was ok. Battling with a low budget though, I'm interested to see what they'll do.
>>212725601Evil Dead Rise had a under 20mil budget and looks great. I trust anything anything Raimi is directly involved in (even as a producer)
>>212725633>Evil Dead RiseNever saw this, how is it compared to the original 2?
>>212725633True. I'm hoping his new film is gonna be more horror than thriller but I'll watch it either way.
>>212725507because i like garbage which is why i fuck your mother every night
>>2127257192013 and Rise are Evil Dead if it didn't have a funny protagonist. Some people dislike this aspect but I think it's good they didn't try to have a new Ash and just played the deadites straight who you forget are just a relentless evil force sometimes.
I love all the Evil Dead movies.
>>212725719Watch 2013, way better film than Rise

>>212725817Rise is Evil Dead without any trace of originality or talent from the director.
I like the last act of 2013, but it's not one I'd rewatch the way I do the originals.
Sam Raimi is a huge part of Evil Dead. If he's not directing, what's the point? It might as well be any generic possession movie then

>>212731785Happy Gilmore 2 I can see, since that has brand recognition, but I'm surprised a new IP by him can do so well on steaming when his theatrical movies have all been flops for the last two decades.
>>212731624Netflix views are slightly made up. If 10 people watch the first 10 minutes and decide it's shit, that's 1 view.

I've decided it's time I gave Hammer films a proper watch. I watched Twins of Evil based on a rec in this thread last week and loved it. Tonight I'm watching The Curse of Frankenstein with a couple bros.

Bleh! I'll bet you thought this webm was gonna be a vampire webm, didn't you
Digging Up the Marrow was neat. I like the whole monster society idea. I should also rewatch Nightbreed sometime
>>212741589> I watched Twins of Evil based on a rec in this thread last week and loved it. It's part of a loosely connected trilogy with The Vampire Lovers and Lust for a Vampire, which are also both enjoyed by the men of this fine general

Goat. It's like Resident Evil 1 vibes, running around in a big location avoiding spooks with 90s spooky score music. And careful camera placements.

I had the opportunity to see it today. Three muslims left during the barn scene and two chicks were baffled because of the blowjob at the end.
I didn't like it as much as I wanted to but it was a fun movie otherwise.
