I used to have pretty intense social phobias. I still do I guess but from experience and time I’ve learned to compensate or just let go and not listen to those feelings as much. Now I am pretty much like my father who is a talkative doctor with the gift of the gab. I can talk to anyone of any socioeconomic status and make a connection.
Even allowing for normal young adult anxiety and inexperience I think this generation is generally speaking socially fucked. COVID wrecked them even more so. I sometimes chat up my students and young coworkers and they are so awkward it is kind of sad. I’ll even call versus text just to give them that experience (as well as fuck with them).
