I like that this Superman actually cares about other people and wants to protect them. That’s what Snyder got wrong.

He does care but he's infantile about it and also is literally a punching bag for the entire duration of the movie.

He doesn't come across as heroic at all, just a really durable doormat.

He went out of his way to save many people, multiple animals, he even tried to spare the giant monster

If I was a foreigner I'd be insulted that Americans think that everyone else in the world is really just like them and we all want the exact same thing and have the same goals and values. That would insult me worse than Americans thinking they were better than me.

I don't know if there's a name for the kind of arrogance where you think you're the same as someone else, but it's worse than the most subtle and pervasive 'racism'.
