I find that typically humans will first try to ease the situation with levity or a joke, but in my case it became clear that either threat of censure or relief of command is typically enough of an incentive to create compulsory adoption of your orders. Displays of force have been used throughout human history, though once a subordinate is threatened their trust may be tenuous. It is better to rule by trust than to rule by fear, but paradoxilly trust is often only gained through credible threats of violence.
