I was talking the other day about the actress Debbie Reynolds, who did the same.

As she put it; she didn't know stocks, and hand no interest in horses or land. But what she did know was movies.

So she started to buy selected props and costumes from the studio's after production finished on films she thought important; or starring people above a certain level.

She collected for decades. When she decided to cash out, her collection auctioned off for something like $20 million.

I saw a video recently about the Oz theme park in NC and they talked about her Oz collection in it. She was there at the opening (with her daughter Carrie Fisher).
The park had a bunch of props on display. I forget if any were hers or just bought by the park. They had two original Dorothy dresses and even some of the munchkin stage actors had costumes from the film.
Years later there was a fire and some items were lost. Yet the items wete actually in a whole different area, so people think the fire was done as a distraction for a theft. One Dorothy dress is still MIA.

I don't know. If you had a way of knowing which actresses would become big stars later; you could buy cheap from their early roles.

for example the way that some actresses (like Suzanne Summers) tried out for playboy when they were a kid. Then, after they got famous, the magazine milked the fuck out of the pictures they had refused a decade ago.

I would say again that if you can become an expert in something highly specialized, you would find underpriced items. For example, I collect local history artifacts, and found an item for sale (which I bought) for $25 that I could probably sell tomorrow for $1000 if I ever chose to.

It's the Warren Buffett approach. Be a value buyer. When everyone else is fighting over who can pay the most for the current fad; find the stuff that's underpriced and unnoticed by everyone else

A lady I knew from WoW had slippers she wore all the time when she was pregnant. I had an old pc that I didn't use, and I gave it to her because it was an upgrade to her toaster she used for WoW.
