Yes, the origin story section of Donner's Superman alone is better than any capeshit that came later. Only touch of brilliance in any of the rest of it is Heath's Joker.

The scenes with his actual dad, Jor-El, were crazy good. Honestly, they should’ve just kept Papa Kent alive since we get the hit of daddy death with Jor-El dying later in the movie anyway.
