The problem is that all the new cast just look like people cosplaying as the og movie cast. The Harry Potter films and their portrayal of the characters are cultural icons. If you take some new people and put them in the same costumes with the same makeup, they just look like imitations. There needed to be something different done, a new style. I'm sure the descriptions of the characters in the books left a little more leeway. Hagrid is a big guy with a beard and scraggly hair, that doesn't mean he had to look exactly like Coltrane's portrayal of the character. It's not looking good, it just looks like a pale imitation.

Rowling never saw the full potential of her own universe. Harry had barely any real character development, he was just a plot device tied to Voldemort, who at least had a proper origin and arc. It makes the Wizarding World feel tiny, like it's only about the UK and one conflict. There could’ve been more books or films exploring the lore, showing Harry grow into adulthood with real depth. A new villain post-Voldemort, like a necromancer with a deeper agenda, would've been perfect. Hogwarts Legacy proved the world works better without her involvement.
