Apologies if you're sick of Superman breads.

I just got back from watching it for the first time and it's such a fucking weird movie. The universe building is very cozy and fun, but it's hard to take any particular scene seriously when it tries to be. And some of Corenswet's delivery just felt so fucking insincere. But it's a far better direction than what Marvel is currently doing, which has gotten stale. CGI was done way better than The Flash, but overused. It felt like a Superman movie I'd have in my sleep-dreams. I want to see more movies in this universe because it's so trippy and strange. Like it shouldn't exist but it does. Almost nightmarish.

It's a bad movie. It has a threadbare plot, way to many browns, a superman who gets beat up over and over, a forced Israel/Palastine cover subplot, stupid 'humor' a drunk slut supergirl and way way too much swearing to be in a movie you would take kids too. It's literally a 4.5/10

I'll give you those points, but I think it's a solid 6/10 and I don't hate it at all. It's extremely flawed, but I was still entertained by its boldness to do something in-your-face.

Surreal is the word. It's the most surreal movie I've ever seen. There's a definite uncanny-valley about it and I'm not talking about AI.

Gunn movies never feel like they take place on Earth or any sense of reality.

My biggest problems
1. that fight between Superman and Lois makes them both look like morons, Superman a well-meaning but extremely naive idiot and Lois one of those obnoxious journalists who just have to "be neutral" and both sides everyone even when they know one side is lying
2. the dog is mostly very annoying, I'd say it acts more like a pitbull except for how it went to eat the floating spheres instead of the baby
3. the invasion scene looked ridiculous, even assuming they have no army they wouldn't have gone with pitchforks to meet the invading army in an open field, also how is Boravia not bombing everything like Israel/Russia/whatever it's supposed to be based on does
4. Lex plan is fucking stupid, he could just have baited Superman with ANYTHING while the JG were elsewhere and then have Ultraman beat him up and take him underground, the kryptonite guy weaken him and Engineer kill him
5. it's ridiculous that a paper proved Lex was in league with Boravia and anyone actually gave a fuck instead of screaming fake news and electing him president or something

All of your points made it feel too cartoony and corny which takes away from any stakes and danger. I have to put my retard cap on to enjoy the movie, which is enjoyable because we've never seen live-action comics made in such a way. On that note, Superman is supposed to be smart in the comics but comes off childlike in the movie.

I felt this way too. I was intrigued to see a comic world relying more on fantasy elements over pure ultimate marvel si fi, but the hamming up the quips really took me out of any care of interest to invest in the shells of "characters" he brought to the vision of the DC.

Why are they obsessed with making Superman
>le grounded every-man
I am disgusted by Synder's inability to craft chemistry or attempt a cohesive plot-beat, but this interpretation of the character really doesn't make the stakes larger like I'm sure someone like Gunn feigns as the reason for the portrayal. He's a God man not a Man god. That's the whole fulcrum to the fish out of water aspect of the character. Superman wouldn't onions out and scream and chimp
>I'm being le good guy
He would smile and show you

The scene were Superman holds the baby in the black-hole river was just too much plot-armor. The baby never gets harmed throughout that entire battle. So everything after that has no weight.

I'm all for more dialog, but everything Superman says comes off as false or dumb. It's almost like he really is a dictator because everyone is at his emotional whim.

Yeah, I think part of me wanting a more stoic or reserved Superman comes from how hard it is to take this version's dialogue seriously.

Maybe we'll see him mature as a person rather than letting only his emotions dictate his actions.

You do realise you're raging because they didn't kill or mame a baby in a horrific manner in a family film, right?

I think that might be too much internet for you today, time for your parents to turn the wifi off now.

The point of it was that unless your thick as pigshit you know the baby will come to no harm, it is an opportunity to make Superman more vulnerable in that situation by giving him a handicap: he has to have at least one hand or arm out of commission because its protecting the baby and he can't just swim through the proton river like a dolphin or something because he can't let the baby get submerged. This is how you put a usually ridiculously overpowered character like Superman into something resembling jeopardy.

No, they could have made that scene better. Like Krypto could have taken the baby or he could have done not drowned so much in the river. I mean, you can see the baby go under multiple times and not get hurt. It's like a bad videogame. Or better yet, taken that entire scene out.

Weak binary straw man. It sucked because there were no stakes given what you were watching. The scene needed a rewrite, but I'm sure Gunn is pretty set on his vision so this his just gets yes'd into the theater by lackeys. Ask HBO why this wasn't brought up when the reedited the film from the 7 day title card format mimicking episodic storytelling for this bland hodgepodge.
