Captains log 43501: It appears that I am once again required to play the romantic interest to the showrunner's wife. While I do not generally comment on the creators of this show I can't help but observe that Gene Roddenberry is a cuckold or a cuck as was playfully referred to in the 21st century vernacular.

yes it does matter the warp drive especially in primitive warp only capable species should be separate from the main crew area, plus it just makes more asthetic sense for the engine to be at the back of the ship, stop apologizing for that idiot who put the marauder the wrong way around, even if he had never seen the ship before its obvious what the alignment should be if he knew anything at all about trek, thats probably kurtmanns collection that he bought off ebay and pretends he's kept since childhood

I used to play Civ III, I was always Anon the Horrible or something. Instead of building the UN I just stole nuclear technology and nuked my enemies at the end of the game. I also taxed my own people at 100% and would have frequent drafts. No matter, they often had fireworks celebrations in my honor because we kept winning wars. The key to ending the game more quickly was to beat an enemy almost to the brink of collapse, then they would bargain for peace, you'd get tech and gold, and then go immediately back to war and wipe them out for their land and cities. My people loved winning wars. They didn't care about democracy or any of that. I'd like to think Warship Janeway would have been a top lieutenant of mine.

Season 7 wasn't as weak as I remembered. The overall quality of episodes is still pretty high and there are quite a few top tier highlights. The final nine-episode arc is good when it stays focused on the war (the three or so episodes without any Dukat/Winn nonsense was a relief) though after 7 seasons of mostly standalone short stories, which Berman Trek had completely mastered, the continuous serial format didn't have as much impact for me. The finale was pretty good overall even if it shits the bed with Sisko and Dukat. In short, the specific story problems with the last couple seasons didn't have as dramatic an effect on the overarching writing quality as I would've assumed.

Nana Visitor was kidnapped by two men after leaving the DS9 set.
Colm Meaney was in such high demand that he frequently had to take leave in order to work on movies and other projects.
Michael Dorn swore he would never play Worf again because the makeup was hellish but the producers enticed him to do DS9 by offering a huge sum of money.

Shadowplay (where she and Odo went to a planet that was actually a complete hologram)
Blood Oath (that 3 old Klingons episode)

I hated Jadzia so much though.
Even on the eve of her wedding to Worf she was getting horny for that Samoan guy and the episode dared paint Jadzia as the saint and Martok's wife as the evil bitch. Not to mention the fact of the deux ex machina of her forgiving Jadzia just in time to marry her to Worf.

there's very embarrassing errors beyond that
In the episode Julian was revealed to be genetically advanced that Admiral at the end spoke about why it's illegal in the first place by talking about what happened "200 years ago" - aka Enterprise time. It should have been 400 years ago.

When such a basic error happens part of my soul dies.

TOS is basically the Kirk and Spock show guest starring Bones and sometimes Scotty. Powerful, but limited. Characters like Sulu, Uhura and Chekov barely exist until the movies where they finally become minor characters.

TNG's cast. Anyone outside of Picard, Worf and Data is wasted potential (Riker, Geordi, Ro) or just shit (Troi, both Crushers)

DS9's cast is very strong but some are mishandled. Bashir is pure whiplash and was better before he became a jaded superhuman, both Daxes are crap and Jadzia is just offensive, Odo is basically character assassinated by the end, Kira is grinded down into Odo's forced side piece which is just fucking sad to see, she died with Bareil.

VOY's cast is the most balanced. Everyone is fully realized, gets ample spotlight and they all interact with each other extensively due to the premise of the show. They all grow and develop naturally. The only real misstep was the forced late stage romance between Chakotay and Seven, which we all know why that happened.

ENT started ensemble but quickly suffered from TOS syndrome which basically wrote out everyone but Archer, Trip and T'pol. A shame really. Malcolm, Hoshi and Travis deserved better. Somehow Phlox made it out unscathed.

The Odo/Kira thing happened way too early.
Should have come at the tail end of S7 or Odo only confessing his love in the finale when he had to leave her forever (& her suddenly realising the same way a few episodes prior).
Making them an actual relationship took away Odo's forever aloneness which is what made him so captivating a-la Spock & Data.
