Slop like this "feels" AI generated because AI is trained on Pixar's other slop. AI just regurgitates the slop that it's been trained on. This is why AI won't save us from the slop, because it's only been trained on slop to begin with.

I laughed at the beaver and bear interaction at the end. It does look pretty mediocre though, and it seems reminiscent of a dreamworks movie. Which isnโ€™t a knock on it, I personally got tired of the tryhard sentimental nature of Pixar movies really early on, so this would be a nice change of style.

On top of that, modern Pixar-Disney is this huge design by committee with endless committees and writer's rooms so you can't see any singular vision at all. It comes off as a big amorphous blob of a story. Lacking an identity means it just feels artificial and sterile. Everything gets played safe.

And you can't make shit too "cool" because that's masculine and we hate that. Can't have real danger either.

Elio didn't get a huge marketing campaign because Disney dedicated more to Lilo and Stitch and because Elio was always going to be a stinker.
