So I've just started watching Star Trek: The Next Generation. I'm only on episode two and they're already fucking.
I understand there's basically a religion behind this show, so what am I entering into? Are some of the series/films better than others?

Seasobs 1 and 2 are very campy. They are more like the original series in tone and presentation, but they do have good episodes and important plot elements. Season 3 is where the show hits it's stride.
>Are some of the series/films better than others?
The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine are generally reguarded as the best. The original series is also very good but it is even more dated than the 80s/90s stuff, however the movies from the original series are the best, and the production value makes them much less dated than the original series tv show. The Next Generation movies suck and are not worth watching.

Voyager and Enterprise are both enjoyable if you want something to watch after TNG/DS9, but neither are really on par with their forebears other than some stand out episodes.

You don't know the half of it. There's a hilarious story about how once he started going really in depth about how huge the Ferengi's cocks were and describing their insane sex positions until everyone in the writers' room begged him to stop. There's also rumors he might've sexually harassed Teri Garr during the filming of the episode Assignment Earth because she adamantly refused to talk about Star Trek whenever it was brought up in interviews.

That episode is a homage to an episode from TOS in which the crew is affected by some contagious force that takes away their inhibitions giving the actors a chance to act crazy. Its not at all representative of the TNG series at all. They dont do any fucking.

Gene Roddenberry was a Satanist and in an interview openly discussed looking at the panties of his daughters when they bent over

His sexual depravity and satanic lust is all over early TNG. From showing in Who Watches the Watchers the very idea of religion as repulsive, to the countless sex and homosexuallity on planets like Risa.

Trek fans will always wave these things away, but it is at the core of the entire series.

TOS, TNG and DS9 are the good shows. Voyager and Enterprise used to be the bad ones but given the current state of the franchise they're alright in retrospect. Anything made later is garbage.
As for the movies, the TOS movies are generally good, even the bad one is kinda fun. The TNG movies are generally bad. The Abrams ones are dumb entertainment at best and garbage at worst. Again, whatever garbage is made after after is best forgotten.

Writers and actors were checking out. It has a few notoriously bad episodes like Beverlys grandmas ghost episode, and Geordie's mummy issues episode.
Luckily the finale is god damn perfect, so the whole season manages to coast by on that. There's still a good chunk of at least par TNG episodes in there too

Pick any episode of season 7 and you'll notice how almost everyone is checked out and look like they want to take a nap. Nowadays prestige television is like 8-10 episodes but back then it was 24. Everyone just wanted to be done.

We got 24 episodes and it was YEARLY, that's what's crazy. Now you don't even get that 8 episode season yearly, you have to wait two or even three years. It's a wonder people are able to maintain interest in the story of these fucking tv shows.

>Pick any episode of season 7 and you'll notice how almost everyone is checked out and look like they want to take a nap. Nowadays prestige television is like 8-10 episodes but back then it was 24. Everyone just wanted to be done.

This is because back then the goal was to crank out as many episodes as fast as possible so that a show could be syndicated with approx. 75 being the standard number of episodes to qualify.

This is why shows like ST:TNG and The X-Files would make 20'ish episodes per season and usually peak in popularity during their 3rd and 4th, you can also include Community in there as well, but quickly drop in quality after they qualify for syndication with everyone getting royalties and anything after that is just gravy, so no fucks are given and why no TV show should be longer than 5 seasons as the law of diminishing returns kicks in and you end up with Games of Thrones and how bad its last few seasons were.

He has a dick, apparently a pretty good one since he fucks and gets a fair amount of attention from women in the series, human or otherwise. He will fuck any woman or creature that appropriately asks or convinces him enough, kinda like how LLMs can be guided except he's got some dick game going for him. Data is a fuckboi.
