Lads, I have been driving myself crazy trying to remember where I watched a horror/thriller story.
I am almost sure that it was an anthology TV series but can't remember if it was prestige length (ie: 1 hour like Masters of Horror), 40 minutes/1 hour on television with commercials, or 30 minutes like Tales From The Crypt.

The plot was about some crooks who ripped a map of where they burried their loot into 4 pieces. The main character was unrelated to the 4 crooks but found out about it after killing one of them and then went off to kill the others I think? The majority of the episode was inside a small cabin like structure where the last survivor was hiding from the main character I think.

It's not exactly horror but I think the show itself was horror themed, it was just like how in early Tales From The Crypt episodes you got crime stories that were more horror adjacent than actual horror. I don't think it was British.

I mean I think that's pretty understandable, it's a traumatic event and she never got closure. The towns collective trauma was stupid though as proven by DGD trying to show it on screen and fumbling every single scene.

Practical set pieces are quite expensive and I would want a lot of practical monsters that are enhanced with CGI like Crimson Peak. I'd also have to scratch build most of the sets as well since I want it to be as gran as something like the castle in Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust. In my mind it'd be a combination of Magnetic Rose, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Crimson Peak and Viy.

It'd be a huge undertaking but I think if you keep the actor budget down and get the right people involved it's doable.

I'm on board that there's a lack of the big gothic action horrors there used to be and Castlevania is a good fit, the anime has boosted it's fanbase a lot.
idk about practical effects being expensive though. If you look at Alien: Romulus though you can do a lot with smaller set pieces in hallways and stuff. That was $90m so still pretty big. But when you get into giant open space action set pieces like Bloodlust has, and tons of CGI, yeah that's superhero film budget tier.

Yeah, she was a breath of fresh air for me because she is one of the few party girl type characters to make it (nearly) to the end of a slasher. I was expecting her to die like 10 minutes in, so I got extremely invested when I realised, like 45 mins in, that she was the main teenage character and might make it to the end. Watching Terrifier 3 even though its not Christmas. Damien Leone does seem to be improving as a filmmaker, even if bit by bit. Its still a low budget, tongue-in-cheek, gross out splatter film like the others though, so it won't really change anyone's mind if they already dislike the series. Pacing and getting a brisker run time is also still an issue, even though its not anywhere as bad as Terrifer 2 was.
