I remember seeing this movie as a kid and being extremely annoyed.
I also remember watching Puppy Dog Pals with my oldest and enjoying it.

it felt like a movie from an alternate universe where this guy was their Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler. Thoroughly enjoyed the gags as a kid thought it strange when he started showing up in the Rogan sphere lol

I saw a video on YouTube saying this was originally supposed to be Ernest goes to space with Jim Varney. But the studio and the writers couldn't agreed on anything and ended in development hell. The studio wanted to make the movie anyways with a up-and-coming comedian. They thought he was going to be the next Jim Carrey.
