>>212803650>Studios get roughly 40% of the ticket salesI see these kinds of statements parroted about studios getting 40-50% of the ticket sales and have to wonder where it comes from. Somebody's asshole maybe?
It's a sliding scale. Studios get 75-100% of the ticket sales during the opening weekend, then the percentage starts going down until the cinema gets 75-100% of the ticket sales at the end of the theatrical run. The percentage is determined by things like which studio is distributing the film, how attractive the film is to general audiences, how long the theatrical run will be etc.
Obviously this is heavily slanted in favor of the studios because most people see films in the first few weekends and those last few weeks theaters are almost empty. This is why theaters have to extort moviegoers with expensive snacks.

During the opening weeks theaters are packed. By not showing the movie in a theater that's a 100% loss for the studio. Not only won't people go too far to see a movie, if they can't find it in the opening weeks they won't watch it at all.
On top of that the studio does nothing. All of the work is by the theater staff.

>>212807818Superman will only make 500 something by the end of its run. That means barely breaking even. MoS made almost 700m from its run but also made 70% of its budget back on marketing deals alone before the movie came out. Superman is concerning because of a complete lack of international interest which isn’t sustainable. And Supergirl factually isn’t going to do any better internationally or domestically on presumably the same budget. Lanterns and Peacemaker won’t translate to the box office. First weekend gross is approximately 1/3 of total ticket sales (double the opening weekend, add it to opening and that's your gross). Remember this is just a sample calculation. Then we take a weighted sum.
1/3 * 80% + 2/3 * 20% = 40%

>>212802048 (OP)It's over already, 550 mil tops, flop
>>212811843It's still less when adjusted for inflation. Seems like Hollywood should've had better Gunn control.
>>212809405You keep posting that image as if you were in any place to laugh, lmao
Imagine flopping at the heigh of capeshit fad and bein the bottom of the barrel of any DC experience and still acting smug, loser
>Gunnjeets though it would make over 2 billion and overthrow Endgame some time agoWhoever said that doesn't think at all, like those spergs that said the same about BvS at the time
>>212810561Only nolan movies aren't shit in that pic
>>212810803Reminder that no Snyderverse
>>212802048 (OP)>will not recoup it's budget>ceiling of 600milly>no billy>less than man of stilly>superbitch chopped off his willy

>>212805250>Ban India already. But nobody will be left to actually discuss this movie then
Superman movies has been bad for decades. I don't understand this race to the bottom to determine which bad movie made less money among bad movies vith bad voxoffice and reception
Humiliation fetish?
As bad as international is tracking, I'm pretty confident this won't even break $500 million.
500 Trillion for the marketing and 43269835233323587323547329183332532.58 for the budget means that this show can NEVER break even. Cope and seethe jadhapurians
Seeing people this autiscally invested in boxoffice consolewars makes me happy that movies are dead and that modern audience will never watch actual good movies made during the last century
>>212806628>so what! The cope for this movie's failure is unfathomablely hilarious. And I hate Snyder films kek
>>212814160It's a mediocre superman movie, theres nothing else to talk about but dick measuring and pissing off shills. It's also interesting that this is what WB needed to work and it hasn't really. CEO "suicide" incoming.
>>212810478>Great reviews and WOMNobody likes it outside America and India, the reception is lukewarm at best. It's fine if people like their slop, but it's retarded to pretend the movie is good just because you liked it
>94% weekend drop projected in China. Biggest ever for a big Hollywood movie
>It's on life support in Europe and they're about to pull the plug this weekend
>It's not blowing away MoS in the US
The people of Earth are saying "No, thank you" to Gunn's Supermanchild
>>212814499those CEOs have been o suicide watch for 15 years.
Nolan and capshit fad gave them the perfect opportunity to become oscenely rich, and they drove their IP into the ground allowing snyder to make his shit movies. I'd like to see the face of that CEO when he saw the reports lmao.
And then what they do? The try to jump on a train that already left making movies that people are tired of, hoping to wrestle the dying fad into existence.
Man, those industries became to big and wide to make anything good at all.
It's like witnessing the last days of dinosaurs
>>212815277People of earth said "No, fuck off" to snydershit even when everyone craved capeshit more than bread.
You have nothing to laugh at, consolewarrior
>>212815424Desperately rewriting history will not save your franchise. This is what an ACTUAL divisive audience response and rejection looks like
>>21280365040% of ticket sales on average for international but it’s 60% for domestic. Right now on box office mojo if you adjust for theater cuts it’s made 93m domestic and 38 international. Although it hasn't been updated since the 11th to be fair. Regardless that’s about 131 for the studio. With a marketing budget reported at 125m the total cost is 350. They’re over halfway to breaking even and there’s a good chance they break even. Assuming they maintain the same international/domestic split you’re looking at somewhere around 600-700m break even
>>212807784If anything I see the opposite. This movie was contested and hated since the announcement was made. It has all elements for a disastrous debut. I never expected it to do this well and have so much support in spite of the daring circumstances surrounding it.
>reboot after barely a decade of the last cinematic adaptation>terrible transition because of all the drama with Henry Cavill, Hamada, The Rock, Gunn, etc...>Superhero genre as a whole reaching its lowest point>Post pandemic cinema just doesn't get the same numbers even with critically and audience acclaimed movies>Conservative and diverse ideologies clashing harder than everThis movie shouldn't even have reached 100 M on it's first weekend. The kind of welcome is getting in today's world is astounding.
The continual raising of the ceiling for what constitutes this movie flopping makes me laugh. Keep crying over a superhero movie
>>212817298I know right? First I've read it needed $400 M to not be a flop, then $500 and now people Is saying $700. Their game is obvious.
>>212810478>Why Superman never needed to break evenNever seen so much coping in my life. Gunn must make excellent contacts in his pedo parties
>>212812147The Snyderverse fought the entire media. Don'y you remember the press comparing BvS with Trump? What about journalists literally begging the audience to watch Ghostbusters 2016 instead of Suicide Squad? Disney was at the peak of its power, it could even make billions with a turd like the sequel trilogy
It won't even make a quarter of what Avatar 3 will pull in
I can't believe Snydertards are getting son desperate they dare defende Jesse Eisenberg's Luthor.
>>212818980If there are still movie theaters when it comes out.
