The industrial revolution in the U.S occurred in areas without any slaves and it wasn't until a century later that the slave areas of the U.S started to catch up.

America's slave trade was nowhere near as significant or as horrible as Brazil, the Caribbean, sub-Saharan Africa, Arab trade, or the Barbary trade. It was so awful to the point that being sent to the Caribbean was the ultimate punishment an American slave could get because it was an inevitably slow painful, gruelling death to where they would often eat sand to deliberately commit suicide faster.
The latter three trades are still ongoing btw and there are more slaves today than there were in 1860, yet you never see any Western "abolitionists" around in the current day crying for their freedom.
