>tell lies >call political opponents Nazis for disagreeing with your lies >double down on lies >two scoops of lies even >the people you called Nazis for a decade use their collective financial power to undermine the entire media apparatus you are held up by >they find, fund and fuel alternative media to get their entertainment and information >be tossed aside because the damage you've done is irreparable and has likely sunk your network His legacy is going to be that he was such a whiny toxic libshit that the people he shit on to sustain his career funneled themselves into a wider and more robust media landscape that broke the old one he had inherited. Thanks Colbert, enjoy being unemployed.
Are we still pretending like this was a huge cultural shift and somehow not that this type of programming has been thrust upon us without warning or consideration for going on at least five years now?
>>212837710 (OP) Don't read too much into this. Colbert is 61 years old, and no late night host last forever. The show has no value other than the Colbert name; so unlike the Tonight Show, there is no value with passing the baton to a new host.
>>212837914 >>212837921 These numbers are horrible, and the 18-49 demo numbers must be atrocious. Modern network TV is dead. Guys like Leno and Letterman could command big salaries because the rest of the show was cheap to produce, and the ad revenue still made them profitable. I doubt these current hosts are willing to take big pay cuts to stay on air.
>>212838952 i wonder what tv is going to do once the boomers die off, i say they go for shock tv, like the radio did shock jock stuff from the 80s-2000s.
I bet if they allowed soft core porn and more violence things might pick up a little
>>212839318 there will be a Migrant Hunting show ala The Running Man in the coming timeline... You just know.

>>212837879 you can google it. nelson also changed how they calculate viewers so all numbers are low (they used to basically over estimate how many people watched) and no one watches tv anymore except for boomers so ratings are also shit due to that >t. /pw/ poster also colbert is a commie faggot

>>212837710 (OP) Have you looked at the schedules of any broadcast network recently? Excluding the reality show fags, I don't think /tv/'s had an active community talking about a U.S. network TV show in years. They've been slowly killing themselves for ages by making all of their marquee shows streaming-exclusive.

Steven Colbert is very much like the British comedian Steve Coogan, in that their creations, created as smug send ups of the at the time establishment are somehow less insufferable than their actual irl liberal personalities.
