The 1995 film is one of my all-time favs.
I thought the 2021 one was just kinda meh, didn’t really care about it – a solid 5/10.

This new one looks rlly fukin good. I’m impressed by the casting choices for Kitana & Shao Kahn. Urban as Johnny Cage feels like it works with the vibe theye going for. The returning cast from the 2021 movie seem to fit better here, esp Sonya, she’s rlly starting to grow on me. It’s got a bit of a cheap vibe but still looks super nice and interesting.

Totally disagree... Johnny actually shows some humanity and grit in this trailer like the '95 movie rather than being played as a straight meme all the time like he is in the newest games. Liu vs Lao is a great matchup which will have some awesome character moments no doubt. The Kitana/Shao Kahn storyline actually looks faithful to the old games rather than just having Kitana lust over Liu or melt down over Mileena and Outworld politics all the time like she does in the new games, Shao Kahn is actually portrayed as a threat worth a shit rather than a joke. Kano and superhero Scorpion are the only ones that reek of the wannabe MCU style of the new games but even then they aren't anything close to as bad as they are in the games.

What worries me the most about this movie is how they're gonna use the characters. Like in the first one, they turned Goro into a dumb henchman that you send to kill someone in a barn, when he should be treated like a prince and a champion, and Mileena is treated like a dumb character with no backstory. I fear they're gonna do the same shit with characters like Sindel, she's the central character of MK3 because her resurrection serves as an excuse for Shao Khan to invade Earth. Except this is used as a plan B because he lost the tournament, and that movie is supposed to be about the tournament. So it looks like that movie is gonna be all over the place while trying to fit as many characters as possible

If I'm being honest, I have no interest in seeing this trailer because Mortal Kombat 2021 was fucking dogshit, especially that dumb new character Cole. And they did my boy Reptile dirty in that movie. But Mortal Kombat 1995 is a fucking masterpiece in my opinion and I mean that with the utmost sincerity. It's VERY underrated and surprisingly heartfelt.

To this day, I'm almost 100% convinced that the only reason why Johnny Cage as a character in mortal Kombat achieves the level of heights that he did not only in movies and in like any of the internet reboots or like. I guess comic books and especially in the games is because of Lyndon Ashby and in his portrayal of Johnny Cage in this movie I think this is the definitive Johnny Cage. I think this Johnny Cage is the reason why at the end of mortal Kombat 9 everyone that is good and most of the people that are bad are all dead and all that exists is fucking Raiden sonya blade and Johnny Cage. Johnny Cage ended up being one of the best main characters of the entire series and most important to its actual story
