Hook still holds up 34 yrs later
I've been rewatching this movie and the implications of the Lost Boys in this universe is crazy Peter Pan at least has to be from the Victorian age so all those little kids are older than everybody else except for Peter Pan they're like hundreds of years old.

And while the Pirates are grown up they got to be hundreds of years old too if not thousands maybe the Pirates started out as Lost Boys too but eventually grew up but don't die of old age they just chose to grow up.

I did a marathon Hook and Peter Pan (2003) are good.
The one with Hugh Jackman singing Nirvana is pretty awful and Jeeta Pan one garbage.

I grew up with this movie and even wore out the VHS as a kid because I watched it so much. I was very surprised to learn as an adult that it was a critical failure. Every performance was solid and the direction was good.

We haven't had a good Peter Pan flick since 2003.

I don’t know man. This movie is kind of depressing. No one needed a story about how pieter pan becomes jaded. It’s like what they did for the Pooh movie where christopher robin is a jaded bitch for 75% of the movie. Who would take their kids to that kind of shit.

Its to remind your children that they too will inevitably become adults and have to come to terms with putting away their childish things, but that should also include the fear of appearing childish.

Neverland is where all lost things go. They're pirates lost at sea forever.

I really liked that movie too. I don't know how if a kid would though. Pooh is based. As a kid I loved Hook... it was mostly bright and fun except the beginning. Rewatching in my middle age I find the scenes with Captain Hook much more interesting. There's a little something for everybody in this movie.

Hook's implied to be from the 1600's, not a larper with an affinity for the 1600's.
>>212861251
The problem with Hook is that Spielberg's conceit about childhood is directly opposed to JM Barrie's view on the matter, and what's in Peter Pan's dna as a story.

Or maybe when you to the island you stop aging.
That was always the thing that made the most sense to me.

I love it but it's maddeningly uneven. The first act is impeccable. Production design is incredible. So many great scenes, including some of the best of Spielberg's career. Hoffman and Hoskins were born to play their roles.

But the McDonalds kids Lost Boys and Julia Roberts really hurt it. The ending doesn't work. And as good as Robin Williams is, I'm still not sure he's the best pick for the role.

I still think the movie is underrated and a good time.

one of my favorite movies of all time, loved it as a kid and still do as an adult. the scene when he first regains his ability to fly and zooms around neverland and pranks the lost boys is the definition of a spielberg scene, and it comes to mind whenever I think of spielberg. i want to watch movies like this, ones i really care about, with some i love some day

dei. seriously though, probably some subversive symbolism about whites handing over the 'sword' to blacks. this was released a few years before apartheid ended in 94.

roberts was fine. it was probably her least annoying role. prime meg ryan would've been amazing though.
