Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne have always looked alike in a lot of artist renditions.

Cavill is as suited to play Batman as he is to play Superman and it would be quite an interesting twist.

Reeves also has serious problems with pacing movies and structuring stories, which Gunn does not. while its not all bad, his The Batman is significantly less well-written than Superman 2025, and almost an hour longer.

Problem i’ve heard is Reeves literally makes the script up as he goes. Pattinson and Kravitz have said this. And I guarantee the long hold up for the script was the WB wasn’t going to let him “wing it” and wanted a full working script before approving the budget

People quite rightfully shit on Josstice League but it was valuable in at least showing Cavill, whatever his flaws may be, was capable of actually behaving like Superman - amiable, approachable, cheerful bro that people actually like. It was still funny as fuck seeing that movie pretend he was ALWAYS like that in the prior movies rather than a cold, distant, brooding overly laconic twat, and dumb shit like
>Well I know you didnt bring me back cause you like me

also if gunn really wanted to give cavell's supes a proper send off he should also try to introduce superboy prime at some point to the buildup of infinite crisis as. he would be the perfect antagonist to represent MCU and comic book movie viewers in general that start a lot of flame wars within all these comic book movies and reboots. they could have Gunn's universe and Snyder's universe characters try to stop the guy

I seriously can never understand the adoration for Superman the character in the Snyerverse from Snyder fans. I simply cannot and they become aggressive assholes the second your dislike is linked the inseparable context of the character being a cultural icon for decades with very well understood and accepted traits. Even if they wanted a darker version of the story, Superman, the character at the centre of it all, should have still been Superman and how he responds to stuff like a world highly ambivalent (at best) towards to him

Give Cavill his MoS 2. End of. Give him the movie with McQ (from MI) that WB execs wouldn't greenlight. Just a one-off Elseworlds movie. If Gunn is truthful (which he isn't) about giving everybody a shot and making sure DCU/Elseworlds get equal treatment, he'd do this. But he knows he'd pretty much embarrass Corenswet by doing it and ruin his own DCU even though this hypothetical movie would be Cavill's own Superman and nothing to do with Snyder. But alas, it'll never happen.

I recall him being even moodier and too laconic in BvS and having 90's edge - MoS they did try at times with giving him levity but the filmmakers unintentionally made him look like a sociopath because they wanted spectacle without fully considering the consequences, i.e. Smallville is Clark's fault but no guilt/remorse, he has a total nonreaction to see the aftermath of Metropolis and when confronted with the architect of this mass murder, Zod, he isn't angry and barely containing himself in attempt to reason, he is giving him the strangest puppy dog eyes look. So jarring

The disconnect between the action scenes and the story is well documented but the character was definitely far more human and realistic in MoS. He wasn't a fucking caricature of kindness and empathy by some deranged turncoat LARPing pedophile like James Gunn who's entire being not barely 20 years ago was being a miserable, mocking spiteful human being. So fucking strange, like WHAT THE FUCK did they expect the audience to think when he did that? Anybody should have been able to realise they'd think that Superman killed a regular human casually

BvS is my favorite cbm of all time and yet I harshly disagree with Snyder’s direction post Justice League. IMO BvS should be the darkest part of part of Superman’s life. Post resurrection Superman should have a big character change. Taking up the leadership mantle and a strict confidence that wasn’t there before as part of his second chance at life. This is why more or less I could get behind killing him off at the start. But looking at Zack’s plan it seemed to be very Batman oriented with Superman still being a mopey introvert in the background despite the godlike symbolism trying to suggest otherwise. That being said I would still easily take the Snyderverse over the Hamadaverse we got.

Lol. It's fucking insane to me that in that movie they gave us a scene where obviously most people's first impression of Superman is him giving a wry smirk before killing a man. 'Oh golly I guess he didn't kill' doesn't really undo the sour taste that initially leaves and still makes him look cavalier as fuck about life because I am fairly sure tackling a man through multiple walls of concrete at superspeed is playing fast and loose with his ability to continue existing

Gunn is an idiot, trying to have it both ways. He wants to uphold DC's reputation as the company that actually makes respectable movies but is a manchild moron who wants to do his little childish fictional universe crap on top of that. Him flip-flopping and fucking people over like Flanagan and Guadagnino will sever his industry clout and he'll be usurped as DCU head not too long from now. Superman gave him some borrowed time but Supergirl will flop (if Superman can barely break even, it's over for the rest).

Of course people are never going to get invested in a '''''cinematic universe''''' that keeps being half-assed and re-re-rebooted, and never reaching any sort of overall conclusion or story arc for any of the fucking characters. The bean counters were so worried about their shekels that they refused to commit to a long-term underlying story arc which led to every movie being an entirely self-contained plot which failed to properly foster a sense of intrigue.

MCU is slop but at least all the major characters had clear progression and story arcs across many movies that actually reached conclusions, with the underlying Thanos/Infinity Stones plot being foreshadowed years in advance.
That's why the MCU tailed off since Endgame. People were encouraged to keep watching every movie because they were all linked with a background plot that was slowly advancing towards a constantly teased zenith. Once they spaffed the load at least half the audience lost interest. But DC never fostered that interest in the first place.

This DCU won't last to 2028, let alone the next decade. One flop is all it takes for it to unravel and for Zazlav to disband DC Studios and just go back to making Batman movies forever and ever with the occasional Elseworlds movie like Constantine or Watchmen. That's where this experiment is headed. It's a last gasp attempt at reviving the cinematic universe gimmick from the 2010's.

DC/WB are in the late-stages of sunk cost fallacy which is the maximum phase of self-delusion before they either cut their losses or crash and burn. The movie is not a success cause they are not profiting anything other than a few million dollars. Zazlav wants badly to delude himself into thinking these numbers justify the DCU and will go on deluding himself until WB/DC get a big bomb (Supergirl) that finally makes it clear to them they should cut their losses. Add to that Batman II outperforming both these DCU movies in 2027.

lol, so they assume the snyderverse fans will accept it as some sort of concolation prize and support Gunn's DCU just for a lame cameo without Cavill returning as Superman?

I saw the interview, and his words are not that he offered a role now, but way back when Johnson (the Rock) made his stunt with Black Adam, and they had to sit down with him about what was next for the DCU.
Basically, Johnson was the one that screwed up with Cavil. And this whole "be willing" is just pure words, basically Gunn is ok with it, but nothing yet.

Gunn is the same man who promised Gadot a WW3.Just because someone says “they’d like to” do something, that doesn’t mean it’s already decided that it’s going to happen.

It could be badass if they made alternates for every character be the old actors. Except for Ezra Miller he died in the speed force sadly. Aquaman is now blonde but his alternate villain is LOBO, Wonder Woman is now Asian to help box office overseas but Gal Gadot is now Circe the villainess from WW Comics. Not sure if Batman needs one.

It's like an unofficial ending to the genre as a whole. I have a suspicion that Gunn's endgame is to adapt that.

When they adapt KC which again seems to be something that could be in the pipeline. Either that or a "Superman vs The Elite" type story.

Still the Snyder Superman. Just have his Earth be defeated by Darkseid, so we have the new Superman getting caught on another Earth and trying to inspire Cavill to rise again.

Yeah Gunn's movie was kinda trash but I have a sneaky feeling he's setting it up as an alternate universe that will be wiped during some big Crisis event. Too bad this slop isn't worth speculating about such things.

Meanwhile Gunn used the GotG3 crew to film Ezra’s Peacemaker cameo, something that had never been done before prior to that (DC and Marvel swapping film crews/cast).
