Most conventional coffee brewers destroy a lot of the flavor. Well made coffee has chocolate and savory flavors, and if the beans are good its a little bit fruity too.

For me it's instant, specifically pic related. I've had pretty much all forms of coffee, including the meme preparations that become popular every few years. Cold brew, pourover, you name it, I've had it. I've also had coffee all over Europe, including Paris and Trieste which are renowned by coffee worshippers worldwide. But nothing ever came close to the simplicity and taste of the freeze dried crystals. It just can't be beat.

Good coffee has a lot of flavor and just smells really good without being overbearing. I just bought a can of BAD coffee grounds and compared to the good coffee it smells like cheap artificial chocolate cereal like cocoa puffs or something if that makes sense. Good coffee smells and tastes better than bad coffee, you need to experience it for yourself, I can't really explain it better than that.

Can you tell the difference between 70% Chocolate and 100%? Bad coffee is like the 100% whilst good coffee is the 70% and below (for general preferences anyhow). There is nothing wrong with trying lighter roasts to see if you'd prefer those more; though if they are burnt to shit it won't matter either way.
