Snyder made fundamental changes to essential aspects of the Superman mythos. Jonathan Kent not encouraging him to be a hero, Lois knowing his secret identity from the beginning, eliminating a huge part of their dynamic and story, Jimmy Olsen being a CIA agent who gets killed (???), etc. And he got lambasted over it.
