It was clear they didn't want to commit to the Latveria stuff fully, but they at least still reference it a few times in the first movie and then it becomes important in the second.
I can't imagine the MCU will handle the lore better considering he'll be from another universe or whatever and people will constantly talk about how he looks like Tony Stark.

The first movie is PG-13 and Alba looks smoking hot. The second movie is PG and Alba has blatantly fake hair extensions, fake contacts, and looks terrible. The second movie sucks. First movie is decent with a great cast.
