NPR national content is pretty much exclusively produced by literal Jews operating out of Manhattan. Almost all the foundation owners that fund every show are also Jews. Local content is made by middle-aged shitlibs.
In any case, PBS is completely fucked. Kids don't watch. Millennials don't watch or donate. All of our viewers and donors will be dead in 20 years or less. Even with the federal funding, it's untenable.

When I was a kid, I always fantasized about going on the Ruff Ruffman show. I didn't know how the application process worked, I just thought they had recruiters randomly pick lucky motherfuckers from across America, and it was always my dream that one day some random dude would be like "Yep, we're the Ruff Ruffman show, it's your turn, time to go on the Ruff Ruffman show". I was always a bit anxious though, because I knew the odds of being picked would be so low, and even if I DID get picked, my family was really poor, and I assumed you had to pay for the plane tickets and shit, so even if I DID somehow get selected, the opportunity would slip by me because I'd never be able to afford it.
There was this one episode where they went to an amusement park, and it just seemed like a wish come true for a kid in a poor family; go ride some rides, eat some food, play around with other kids my age, and then have the chance to win a prize after everything is said and done.

>>212876364What's evil is allowing wolves to coexist with the sheep and actively preventing the sheep from protecting themselves when the shepherd is on lunch. We can argue about whether the wolf is evil because he kills or because he uses his sharp teeth to kill instead of bludgeoning the sheep to death but at the end of it the sheep is still dead, and it's dead because it couldn't fight back. It's your right to not want the responsibility that comes with being armed, but it's not your right to take away the rights of the other sheep not to be devoured by wolves whose nature it is to kill.

We have a lot of local stuff on PBS around here, shows about Tennessee, about our culture and history, there's a weekly bluegrass show to try and keep that heritage alive, gardening shows beloved by old women like my mom with local hosts, shows about great hidden gem spots in the state.
Just a retarded thing to do ultimately when PBS draws such a tiny amount of funding compared to other expenses. Shameless hucksterism literally aimed at making us stupider and easier to control.

>>212872539Sort of a bummer but PBS was essentially made moot by YouTube.
Pre internet, PBS was meant to give quality shows that couldn't be profitable or profitable enough for typical networks a chance. This meant a lot of science shows, niche interest shows like car talk, or kids shows at on or near prime time slots. Super valuable back in the day.
But now YouTube has a glut of those, accessible whenever. And while there's a lot of slop I don't think anybody would deny the quality of channels like veritasium (science) or your preferred hyper niche interest channel.
I'm glad PBS existed when I grew up, but it's time has come and gone. Much like basically all live TV that isn't live event or sports streaming, it's a blatantly inferior product to streaming. And PBS takes taxpayer money on top of it.
My political views don't align with election tourist nu-chan, but I'm sure other oldfags like me can agree with our newfriends that people whining about PBS dying just reflexively complain about anything losing government funding without thought. It served its purpose, but it's completely unnecessary in the internet era. The market found a better way to provide the services it provides.

people say the NPR radio is "extremely left leaning", but I usually find its moderate/center left, yes they will talk about racism and occasionally do stories on trannoids, but they are always happy to interview people with the "other view point" for almost every story they do. they have had loads of interviews with republican congressmen, senators and other leading republican members and really don't play hardball the same way Fox does with liberals when they get on.

>>212879162Production values of YouTube videos are nowhere near TV level. Thereโs also the obvious problem that your YouTube viewing is at the behest of an algorithm versus a human selected show schedule. You could select your high quality channelโs video, and two videos later you could be watching something far lower quality, or even worse just incorrect information. Thatโs why all these platforms have little blurbs under content now, because they arenโt actually dedicated learning platforms, anyone can go on there and say whatever they want, and that video might become popular enough to be algorithmically served to you or a kid.

>>212878320They're going to shut down Arthur? It's like their flagship kid's show. Arthur is to PBSkids what The Sopranos or Game of Thrones was to HBO; it's like the number one show that kids will tune in to PBS for.
I remember being a teen leader at summer camp, and a bunch of the kids were being a dick to another kid, and so I pulled them aside, but it was hard to talk some morality into them since they were really young. I didn't know how to reach them on that level. Finally, I had the brilliant idea to say "If this was an episode of Arthur, do you guys think you'd be the good guys in that episode, or the bad guys? What would Arthur do in this situation?", when they were like "What's Arthur?" After that, I had to resort to the good ole fashioned "What would Jesus do?" instead, but it got me thinking, how many shows are there any more that kids can watch, that explore real world issues that kids face everyday, with an emphasis on strong morals, that plays it straight without being sarcastic or subversive? Arthur was one such show; they talked about fitting in, peer pressure, bullying, believing shit on the internet, escalation/de-escalation, creepy adults, divorce, crushes, grades, parental expectations, etc. etc. It was very relatable to kids for that reason, and it could prove as a viable voice for guidance to a lot of them, especially those who lacked much guidance in the first place.
When I was trying to get through to those 6 and 7 year olds, when they said they didn't know Arthur, my mind was scrambling for a similar show in their generation that I could use as a reference point, but all I could really think of was Paw Patrol, which I haven't really seen, but I assume it has more to do with emergency responders and shit rather than real world child related dilemmas. Every other show I could think of was either too sarcastic in tone, or would subvert the usual "daily moral" for the sake of comedy, which annoyed me.
