Perhaps they would be sued for slander. For example, I was watching an episode recently, and they were suggesting several nurses and doctors and others being involved in a conspiracy of stealing a newborn from a young mother to give to a wealthy family, telling the mom she newborn died.

They were replaced by true crime youtubers and the like. Trust me, people with nice voices talking about spooky shit is more popular and well liked then ever.
Many once news magazine programs on legacy broadcast TV have morphed into true crime shows as well. This is true of 20/20 on ABC and 48hrs on CBS. Many YouTube true crime shows do have nice animation and creepy sounding narrators.

They almost definitely do. The theme was commissioned for the show and it’s nearly impossible that they wouldn’t contractually own it. The new theme is just an arrangement of the old one. It’s a bit updated, but it has the exact same melody, harmony, and general motifs.
