The vast majority of the jokes would have went over the head of a 12 year old in 2006. I was 19 when it came out and it primarily was jokes about media you would have only known about if you were born in the 70's-very early 90's. It's juvenile, but not aimed towards kids. Since this came out before Youtube and social media weren't a thing so it was more of an in joke between Gen Xers and Millennials about the stuff they grew up with.
