Alien is vastly superior in art design, characters and story.

Aliens would be just a great example of how working class problems became Reaganite war cry, along with enshittification of Giger's elegance with various McMansion tier inflictions on Alien sleekness were it not for amazing mechanical crew Cameron brought along and his ability to invoke Kurosawa when directing action. Wind blows, things fly and explode, fire burns, gung ho crews find themselves in dire predicaments. I'd rate both movies 10/10 but Alien is significantly better.

Cameron has incredible talent of taking a bunch of generic tropes - first half of Alien is actionless military procedural - and making them actually gripping.

I remember the first time I watched Aliens, I had always heard people hated that newt and hicks die in the third one, so I was prepared to like those characters
But Newt's actress is bad and all her dialogue sucks and ultimately when I ended up watching 3, I really liked that she was gone.

They want to experience more of Aliens in movies, games, comics, toys, etc. No one is like "yeah, gimme more slow paced rubber suit man from Alien!, lame nonsensical prison slop from Alien 3!, or contrived whedon quipfest with a retarded unscary newborn Alien 4!"

You guys only hate the director's cut because it contains the most perfect "prequel" scenes ever put to screen. Short, sweet, to the point, expands the movie by showing how they were living and what happened but doesn't ruin it by pretending some crazy epic shit went down right prior to the movie with some hidden characters that will now pop up in the sequels
