Other than Freddy, Saw, and the Smile Monster why have wee seen such a shortage of horror movies that are actually High Concept? Would the genre benefit from being more Concept?

I mean I get the budget issues and everything but there is still an issue with the general level of shit content.

Maybe I will actually try my hand at it because I've got pretty good Concept. The first challenge is producing the content and then an even bigger hurdle is getting distribution because there is a promotion of shit tier and networks of bullshit.

There is no such thing as “high concept” horror. It’s a genre for mouth breathing retards too stupid to understand real creative film. Thinking that a puppet is somehow “high concept,” nevermind completely derivative of Chucky, and a dozen other similar unorginnial characters just proves low iq you really are. Not necessary, because the execution could be shit. As a recent example, I find the pic to be overpraised and mediocre, even if the premise/concept/pitch is relatively high (or at least new) at the time for the general public.
I like the idea of a film with a group of survivors not able to communicate via speaking and have to resort to sign language. However, as the film goes on my suspension of disbelief is constantly eroded especially in the world building. It becomes less horror and more face palming.
Seriously, no one in that world thought of a sonic based weapon for those things? I'll give them a lot of space for bad planning of their pipes for the baby bunker, but the characters become more and more retarded as the film goes on. I can't sympathize with the daughter, she's such a stupid bitch.
It gets worse as the prequel reveals to us that the invasion started in modern post-2010 times and not the 80-90s (which I thought due to the lack of LCDs and PCs in the first film).

Tremors was more entertaining and tense, even though the concept is lower and the tone more lighthearted, just because the acting and chemistry is better.

The first Purge was actually good. A right balance of a cool concept and execution. The sequels had the problem of trying to expand the world that wasn't really meant to be that deep and kills the fantasy. The First Purge is an example of writers being tryhards and trying appease autists nitpickers.
