They addressed this in the comics of superman ages ago.
He doesn't actually have super strength, he has an natural telekinetic field that surrounds him which lets him fly and act with super strength.
The reason he can save people falling out of buildings, and catch flying planes without punching through them is because he can extend this field.
Superman has been around for close to a hundred years, there aren't many nitpicks you can come up with that haven't been explained.

It would've been more kino if he instinctively slowed down time as he realized something was wrong, like quicksilver in xmen apocalypse, and gotten rid of the bomb without anyone getting hurt. OR reduced the explosion by smothering it or with freeze breath. Really anything at all would've been better. Would've shown more intelligence and quick thinking than just letting them all die
