Most people have not seen a marvel movie since Infinity War or End Game. They are not going to watch all the TV shows and movies since then to even know who the characters were. When Infinity War came out, I didn't know who half the characters were because I never watch all the movies. But I recognized at least some of them from comic books. But bro, nobody knows any of the obscure marvel characters now. Fantastic Four was never very good, nobody cares about these characters. Doctor Doom? Who? Nobody knows these people. I watched the very first Fantastic Four in the 00s, and it was so awful. Why would anyone be excited for this shit? Apparently Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic is the new leader of the avengers.... the guy who stretches like that toy from the 90s.

The most entertaining scenario would be Fantastic Four underperforming (any sub-650m gross) and Doomsday barely eking out a box office higher than than that. If they really do kill off Thor and Spider-Man like leaks say I can see a pretty significant second weekend drop. This won’t have the impact Infinity War had because nobody cares about these new characters. Seeing Marvel scramble to narratively pivot after F4 and Doomsday underperform would be hilarious.

Every action scene was poorly choreographed with everyone clearly waiting for their turn. If you take a shot for every time you see a goon in the background with a gun standing around and watching the action without doing anything, you'd be gone so fast.
The tone is a jarring mess. It clearly wanted to be a serious "real" film but they couldn't avoid throwing in shitty quips every 10 seconds. So you get Yelena making these awful jokes before murdering a bunch of scientists just in the opening scene. The worst was when a little girl was saved from death, only to be immediately dusted to the point that they (and we the audience) thought she'd just been murdered. And the first line after the girl was dusted was a fucking joke about his dark side coming out to play.
The film ends unsatisfactorily. No big fight scene with the main villain. The puppet master suffers no consequences. And the entire team makes it through without casualty, making the entire story feel like a pointless waste of time.
And it drives home the franchise's major criticism of where the fuck was everyone else? An existential threat wipes out literally millions of people and no other superhero reacts? It just reminds us how fucking stupid this franchise is.

I think it'll have legs if they keep making good movies. Ironically fumbling through the Snyderverse has left them in a much better position. Whereas MCU has pretty much emptied their clip of every recognizable character and villain, DCU has a lot of material to work with either because Snyderverse either didn't bother with iconic villains like Brainiac or gave a portrayal that everyone hated (pretty much everyone except Jason Momoa's Aquaman). By contrast, any MCU reboot is just going to feel like a "Great Value" brand version of the actor portrayals audiences fell in love with.

I think Doomsday will be another billion hit, but Disney is reaching for the last recognizable characters they've got at their disposal with Fantastic Four and Dr. Doom. Bringing back RDJ is another last-ditch effort they can't repeat twice. My guess is that Disney is going to need to pivot hard away from the Avengers and commit to an X-Men reboot. And they'll have to do it without featuring too much Wolverine since Hugh Jackman is still going strong.

OP, the problem is that since Endgame they've made a bunch of trash and now have to somehow tie all of it into the next Avengers films.

After Endgame they should have planed to do Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars for 2025/2026.

This would have given them six years to build things up but there was a few problems.

To be fair Victoria Alonzo has been with the MCU since Iron Man but used the "MeToo" movement and political climate circa 2017+ to assert power over the MCU and is DIRECTLY responsible for the trash that she pushed over the last several years while you also have to take into account that she's a man hating ugly dyke goblin who objects to the name X-MEN because it has the word MEN in it, just like WO-MEN, but her brain was fried from lapping cunt juice from casting couch whores (it's not just guys like Harvey Weinstein who play that game) but thankfully was able to fire her after she broke her contract by producing a doc outside of the paramiters of her deal with Marvel/Disney, to which she of course claimed it was because of sexism and homophobia like clockwork.

Funnily enough that didn't gain much traction and it's because contracts are considered holy scripture in Hollywood and NEVER to be broken and why she couldn't play the istaphobe card.

My point is that it was a combination of Alonzo as well as the pandemic that fucked things up as it caused the "Streaming Wars" where companies poured BILLIONS into content thinking that theskyrockting rise of streaming viewership would never end and not realize hat it was only because people were being forced to stay homes and needed things to watch.

So now you've got Disney telling Feige that they have to start making shows which complicated the MCU even further as before the movies movies in a straight line of movies that people could follow.

Now Feige has to make 30 shows and everything has to tie in together, like how they fucked up Dr. Strange 2 because they wanted to tie it into Wandavision when it was supposed to be a Horror movie as the first films Directed intended but was axed when they demanded to go in the other Direction.

I love Sam Raimi and he was definitely on his A-game visually but it's clear he was hired to placate fans and only brought in at the last minute but luckily the pandemic shut production down for a while was able to at least get a little deeper into development.

I initially loved Dr. Strange 2 because it felt like Marvel's first Horror movie but there was a definite mean spirited misandrist streak as the whole fucking thing revolves around Wanda while she easily kills off the Reed Richard and Bolt variants in humiliating ways while Captain Carter and Monica Rambeau were able to hold her off for a bit.

Now Secret Wars was always planned as part 2, after Avengers: Kang Dynasty (that has to be an inside joke!) but with Jonathan Majors getting charged with assault they were able to shitcan him which was for the best as trying to make him the Thanos level threat of the MCU for the next few phases was fucking retarded.

This is because, firstly as a result of the multi-verse there's an infinite amount of Kangs with two of them already killed, one by a middle aged white lesbian and the other by communist ants, showing him to be nothing but a non-threatening ineffectual fucking loser.

Now this could have been a running gag where every soo often a King variant shows up and gets fucking destroyed in humiliating ways, like the MCU's equivalent to Wile E. Coyote.

But with Majors out bringing in RDJ is just pure desperation while, to tell you the truth, I'm not completely against this as Stark and Doom both wear metal suits, with the latter also involved in magic that makes him a genuine threat against Strange.

It's just how are the going to introduce him with absolutely zero build up then how will everyone react to seeing that he looks like Tony Stark and will they address this by explaining and showing Doom what his variant was in their Universe?
