Most people have not seen a marvel movie since Infinity War or End Game. They are not going to watch all the TV shows and movies since then to even know who the characters were. When Infinity War came out, I didn't know who half the characters were because I never watch all the movies. But I recognized at least some of them from comic books. Every action scene was poorly choreographed with everyone clearly waiting for their turn. If you take a shot for every time you see a goon in the background with a gun standing around and watching the action without doing anything, you'd be gone so fast.
The tone is a jarring mess. It clearly wanted to be a serious "real" film but they couldn't avoid throwing in shitty quips every 10 seconds. So you get Yelena making these awful jokes before murdering a bunch of scientists just in the opening scene. The worst was when a little girl was saved from death, only to be immediately dusted to the point that they (and we the audience) thought she'd just been murdered. And the first line after the girl was dusted was a fucking joke about his dark side coming out to play.
The film ends unsatisfactorily. No big fight scene with the main villain. The puppet master suffers no consequences. And the entire team makes it through without casualty, making the entire story feel like a pointless waste of time.
And it drives home the franchise's major criticism of where the fuck was everyone else? An existential threat wipes out literally millions of people and no other superhero reacts? It just reminds us how fucking stupid this franchise is.

I think it'll have legs if they keep making good movies. Ironically fumbling through the Snyderverse has left them in a much better position. Whereas MCU has pretty much emptied their clip of every recognizable character and villain, DCU has a lot of material to work with either because Snyderverse either didn't bother with iconic villains like Brainiac or gave a portrayal that everyone hated (pretty much everyone except Jason Momoa's Aquaman). By contrast, any MCU reboot is just going to feel like a "Great Value" brand version of the actor portrayals audiences fell in love with.

I think Doomsday will be another billion hit, but Disney is reaching for the last recognizable characters they've got at their disposal with Fantastic Four and Dr. Doom. Bringing back RDJ is another last-ditch effort they can't repeat twice. My guess is that Disney is going to need to pivot hard away from the Avengers and commit to an X-Men reboot. And they'll have to do it without featuring too much Wolverine since Hugh Jackman is still going strong.

OP, the problem is that since Endgame they've made a bunch of trash and now have to somehow tie all of it into the next Avengers films.

After Endgame they should have planed to do Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars for 2025/2026.

This would have given them six years to build things up but there was a few problems.

This is because, firstly as a result of the multi-verse there's an infinite amount of Kangs with two of them already killed, one by a middle aged white lesbian and the other by communist ants, showing him to be nothing but a non-threatening ineffectual fucking loser.

Now this could have been a running gag where every soo often a King variant shows up and gets fucking destroyed in humiliating ways, like the MCU's equivalent to Wile E. Coyote.
