I saw it last night in a packed cinema that was at least 30% Indian. The ones sitting next to me LOL’d at every quip and slapstick moment and clapped at the end.

I thought it was ehh mid-good. 6.2/10. Script was a total mess but they leaned into the “breakneck pace” of a “Saturday morning cartoon”. Definitely a normie crowd pleaser. I imagine it’ll do well by the end of its run.

It was never about making a billion dollars or whatever with the first movie. This was 100% about stopping the bleeding and laying a solid foundation. The fact that it's got a ton of buzz around it and was generally really well received unironically means more than money at this point.

Cope.

"Laying a solid foundation" doesn't help if you build a mud hut made of hangover shit on top of it. There's no DCU version of The Dark Knight coming any time soon. 2026 will see the releases of Supergirl and Clayface. And after that?

>The Authority (Other projects had taken priority over The Authority by February 2025, when Gunn said the film was very big and that the script had struggled coming together)
>Swamp Thing ("We talked to James Mangold the other day. He has not delivered a script yet because he's been distracted with his billions of movies but we're talking about it again.")
>Bane & Deathstroke (Matthew Orton was confirmed to be writing a script for a DC Studios film in February 2025)
>Sgt. Rock (Gunn stated in June that the film was put on hold because it "wasn't exactly where I wanted it to be creatively" and he felt it needed to "change a little bit" first)
>Teen Titans (Gunn and Safran confirmed that Ana Nogueira had turned in a draft by February 2025)
>Batman: The Brave and the Bold (A writer had been hired for the film by February 2025 and was closely working on the script with Gunn)

Let me repeat: Their follow up to the "well-received solid foundation" with "a ton of buzz" is a "Superman but it's a drunk slut" which will make maybe half of what Superman did. Then they have a low-budget horror film about a D-tier Batman villain. They have nothing for 2027 apart from The Batman II which is not part of the DCU. "Building momentum" is a nice cope if you are too stupid to see that whatever momentum they've built is already dead.

Are you a fucking retard? Movies with huge opening weekends typically get over 50% drops. True Grit made 24 million its entire opening weekend not over 100 million! The last Spider Man had a 69% drop its second weekend. Not because it bombed, it made a billion dollars. the power of "Good-Word-Of-Mouth" among zoomers. lots of liberal & progressive influencers have been giving Superman (2025) great reviews like Vaush, Destiny, Hasan, etc. It isnt controversial to say that Synder's Superman appealed to more to a conservative audience and probably lots of those of the opposite side didnt show up on the opening weekend. Now they are showing up.

Domestically it looks like, it might actually be a real HIT in the US/Canada, maybe even in Latin America. Still doesnt change that Superman 2025 is bombing outside of the Americas and internationally it is a BOMB.

The ratio of man children per every 100 American millennial men is staggering. Half of them are at the very least man children adjacent. There's a critical mass of millennial men who keep collecting toys their whole lives. And this movie feels like it was plotted by kids playing with their toys, but also let's put Israel in it, to show they are serious, so no surprise it's doing well with that demographic. It's the dream movie for emotionally stunted men. I have to commend Gunn's balls for making an anti zionist blockbuster though, even if it's kind of distasteful.

Left-wing audience mobilized through american social media channels along with manchildren eager to finally have their live action cartoons. I expect Supergirl to lean very heavily into feminist themes, Clayface touching on bisexuality or some other sociopolitical issue. The creative strategy seems to be working for them in the US. It's a bold move for sure.

My family(biggest normies who laugh at every joke and clap like seals in the theater to even the lamest capeshit) came back from watching it 2 nights ago. They genuinely had nothing to say about it. They reassured me it wasn't a bad movie and that the new guy playing Supes was good, but there wasn't anything about the movie that really stood out or "wow'd" them. Usually if a movie sucks, we talk about the sucky parts and discuss what could have been better. If a movie is great, we talk about the memorable fun parts we enjoyed. They were indifferent about this movie which I believe is even worse for a movie than being bad. Especially a movie that's supposed to be the "foundation" of a cinematic universe of movies.

That's a good drop, but the movie is getting carried entirely by the domestic box office

Honestly I don't know why snyderjeets are so worked up about this, the DCU will very likely end up being a complete disaster just like the DCEU was and might have a shorter lifespan than expected because Zaslav will pull the plug as soon as he sees some loss, so even if this Superman flick is a hit that doesn't guarantee anything for the DCU which is what this shit is trying to establish
Capeshit in the 2020s is not a guaranteed success anymore, and Gunn is an egomaniac piece of shit that will very likely abandon ship once things get too shitty to not be associated with it

Oh, let's:

>Product placement in "Superman" (2025) is rumored to be a significant part of the film's revenue strategy, with one source mentioning a $90 million deal. While the specifics of the deals are not yet public, it's known that Warner Bros. has unveiled over 100 licensees for the movie, including toy lines from Mattel and Spin Master, clothing from GAP, and costumes from Rubies. Toyota has also been confirmed as a major sponsor, with their electric bZ model appearing as product placement.

Autistic fan wars aside I'm kind of curious which one is more profitable tbqh. If we were looking purely at B.O revenue, I'd lean towards Superman 2025 because it's so much more stacked with Domestic Gross, and is looking to make more than MoS domestically even adjusted for inflation, and studios take a much higher cut of domestic earnings than international.

But MoS had a ton of product placement, and surely made a ton off those Ihop and 7-11 dollarydoos, but on the other hand 2025 probably makes more money off of merch due to Krypto and all the other wacky shit in the movie.
