It was never about making a billion dollars or whatever with the first movie. This was 100% about stopping the bleeding and laying a solid foundation. The fact that it's got a ton of buzz around it and was generally really well received unironically means more than money at this point.
some butthurt 3rd worlder will 100% respond to this crying because they're too stupid to understand the concepts of cause and effect, building momentum, etc.
Fantastic Four will break Superman's legs this week and its flopping internationally so Superman is still a flop. Remember when everyone said it would revive Capeshit. Now its just proforming OK and the rest of Gunn's projects are will flop even harder.

"Laying a solid foundation" doesn't help if you build a mud hut made of hangover shit on top of it. There's no DCU version of The Dark Knight coming any time soon. 2026 will see the releases of Supergirl and Clayface. And after that?
>The Authority (Other projects had taken priority over The Authority by February 2025, when Gunn said the film was very big and that the script had struggled coming together)>Swamp Thing ("We talked to James Mangold the other day. He has not delivered a script yet because he's been distracted with his billions of movies but we're talking about it again.")>Bane & Deathstroke (Matthew Orton was confirmed to be writing a script for a DC Studios film in February 2025)>Sgt. Rock (Gunn stated in June that the film was put on hold because it "wasn't exactly where I wanted it to be creatively" and he felt it needed to "change a little bit" first)>Teen Titans (Gunn and Safran confirmed that Ana Nogueira had turned in a draft by February 2025)>Batman: The Brave and the Bold (A writer had been hired for the film by February 2025 and was closely working on the script with Gunn)Let me repeat: Their follow up to the "well-received solid foundation" with "a ton of buzz" is a "Superman but it's a drunk slut" which will make maybe half of what Superman did. Then they have a low-budget horror film about a D-tier Batman villain. They have nothing for 2027 apart from The Batman II which is not part of the DCU. "Building momentum" is a nice cope if you are too stupid to see that whatever momentum they've built is already dead.

It's the dream movie for emotionally stunted men. I have to commend Gunn's balls for making an anti zionist blockbuster though, even if it's kind of distasteful.

>>212922920>not to mention product placementOh, let's:
>Product placement in "Superman" (2025) is rumored to be a significant part of the film's revenue strategy, with one source mentioning a $90 million deal. While the specifics of the deals are not yet public, it's known that Warner Bros. has unveiled over 100 licensees for the movie, including toy lines from Mattel and Spin Master, clothing from GAP, and costumes from Rubies. Toyota has also been confirmed as a major sponsor, with their electric bZ model appearing as product placement.
DC's tentpole is going to do worse than Quantumania?
lol its gonna lose to black adam
>>212922920Autistic fan wars aside I'm kind of curious which one is more profitable tbqh. If we were looking purely at B.O revenue, I'd lean towards Superman 2025 because it's so much more stacked with Domestic Gross, and is looking to make more than MoS domestically even adjusted for inflation, and studios take a much higher cut of domestic earnings than international.
But MoS had a ton of product placement, and surely made a ton off those Ihop and 7-11 dollarydoos, but on the other hand 2025 probably makes more money off of merch due to Krypto and all the other wacky shit in the movie.

The world has completely moved on from amerislop
>>212923542mostly just France, Germany and Asia. In Anglophone countries, LATAM, and India(kek) it's doing alright.
>>212921492>>212921775>mousejeets shaking and sharting themselves because the PROJECTED domestic box office is coincidentally the same as the CURRENT ww box officeI don't consider indians to be humans and indians hired by disney to shill here, even less so
>>212923566>>212923542also it was doing well in Japan until the new Demon Slayer movie came out.
>>212923406It needs the international box office to be a functional cinematic universe, you can't rely entirely on the domestic numbers
>no international interest>only domestic >Supergirl is next in lineIf Americans don't show up to that one, it's over, it will need a lot of hype around it or something, maybe like a Barbie but that was a meme movie, so maybe a tiktok meme trend will help
>>212923595america first baby
>>212923595>cinematic universes have proven to become stale traps that cause companies to overinvest in mediocre properties >still chasing the dragon in 2025Endgame saga managed to stick its landing and everything after that has been a disaster.
>>212923662monsterverse bros we're still in the game
>>212923595or you could just make good movies
>>212923595Anon this movie is going to make in america what the NEW AVENGERS (real title btw) movie made worldwide. It's over, superchad is a hit, Gunn won, WB won, disney lost, india lost
>hehe stupid americans, you think the whole world cares about you
>ok ill be happy with my movie performing well domestically
>NO NO NO YOU HAVE TO CARE ABOUT INTERNATIONAL BOX OFFICE
>>212923537Eh about the same really. MoS fell short of break even in the box office but was saved by product placement and toy sales. This one will probably do the same. Overall, it'll be a minor success financially, but I'll bet the ultimate goal was to make a more likable Supes for when they kill him off after the 12 Labors storyline, if they get that far.
>>212923827oh yeah I'm sure they consider it overall a success, even MoS was a financial success WB just panicked because it had meh reviews and poor word of mouth, which is the opposite case here.
>>212923802>NO NO NO YOU HAVE TO CARE ABOUT INTERNATIONAL BOX OFFICEbecause studios love losing money
>>212923662The cinematic universe only worked for Marvel because they were the first to do it and because the movies were fun, it was a novelty at the time and people invested time into it because it was the only one
The ones after who tried to cash in on that all failed because not only were the movies shit and trying to be MCU like, but because people did not give a fuck about it, simple as
>>212914709The world is 30% indian
>>212916783There's no 5 day opening for Superman.
>>212922172>>a 70% drop is completely normalOn the 2nd Friday, given the 1st counts previews in the total, yes, it is. It's the same drop Lilo & Stitch had. If you don't know anything about box office numbers, why are you trying to make proclamations about it?
>>212921013Man of Steel dropped 55% on this respective day.
