Honestly, she's the right amount of bitch. My problem is with Alicent. Why go so hard to paint her as a good person, a paragon of justice? Alicent in episode 1 sees Criston Cole take off his helmet and says "gods, he's DORNISH!" once she sees his facial features. So characters can notice someone's ancestry or where they come from simply based on their face, just like how in the real world I can tell someone is probably from the Philipines if they're tiny asians with high hairlines.

And a scene later Alicent sees a black guy in a white mop, blacker than any Summer Islander, and just calmly accepts him as a cousin of the Targaryens (the whitest family in Westeros.)

I actually really liked her before the time skip. Not a monkefag either, just thought that she was a well written character. She's spoiled, entitled, impulsive, and abrasive, but also clearly intelligent, brave, and charismatic. They sandpapered her personality after the time jump into "WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE ME DO". Her flaws just vanish, but so do her admirable traits. Sure, she pays lip service to the human cost of war, but how the fuck would she even know? But yeah, she can never be Dany 2.0, because Dany literally built herself up from the ashes. There's occasional honorable characters involved but the leaders are all scummy nobles by and large, who trash the kingdom in their squabbles and all they accomplish in the process is weakening their own houses.

Someone in the writing room has a bizarre attachment to the two as "friends" or unrequited lovers or something, their friendship ended a long time ago in both the book AND show, it's dumb to keep trying to hang onto it, to the detriment of both characters.

Not only are Rhaenyra and Daemon the main suspects in the murder of their son Laenor (in fact they WANTED to be considered the main suspects, to scare their enemies) - not only did their daughter Laena die in Essos with Daemon even though she wanted to come back home - not only did Daemon behead Corlys' brother for basically telling the truth - not only did Rhaenyra marry her son with the idea of having his children but then proceeded to cuckold him - not only is Rhaenyra trying to supplant house Velaryons from the male side by making Strongs the head of the house - but now Rhaenyra has sent Rhaenys to die at Rook's Rest when she could've gone herself, could've accompanied Rhaenys alongside with Jace, etc.

How have they ever supported Rhaenyra? Why is Corlys hyping up the people who killed his son (to his knowedge), his brother and cucked his bloodline? At this point he should be really, really disillusioned with her. He should be on the brink of defection, really. Is their role in the show to just be the designated token Rhaenyra simps?

I feel like this greatly affected to the Blacks (partly the Greens but not as much) - there was way too much artificially created discord and disagreement within each camp when it comes to using dragons. When you really look at the dragon power of the two sides, the Blacks should crush the Greens very easily.

Tessarion is a small-ish dragon that's never been in a fight and Dareon is barely a teen. Dreamfyre doesn't have a rider. Sunfyre can fight but he's not really bigger than any of the opposing dragons and Aegon is a drunk driver. So really only Aemond on Vhagar is a real threat.
On the other hand you have Daemon on Caraxes, Rhaenys on Meleys, Rhaenyra on Syrax, Jace on Vermax, Baela on Moondancer. This is a much more serious group, just Caraxes + Meleys together would be enough to wreck Vhagar and then the Greens don't really have any heavy hitters to defend themselves.

And I feel like the writers kinda know this, that the Blacks as a united front could end the Dance in 5 mins through dragon superiority. So they contrived a lot of bullshit to avoid dragon usage in S2. The Daemon getting jealous and abandoning camp subplot felt like it was forced just to remove his dragon from the equation for now.

In the book it was Viserys who insisted Aegon must marry Halaena. Why? So the Greens don't get a change to make marriage pacts with other powerful houses, so their power doesn't grow too much. This makes the Greens mad not just because it deprives them of the chance to make alliances, but because once Rhaenyra comes into power then Aegon & Halaena will essentially inherit nothing at all. The king's firstborn son will have 0 inheritance.
In the show however it's actually Alicent that marries Aegon to Heleaena. Why? Why do the Greens self-sabotage so dramatically? Fuck knows. The show is full of changes like this that make 0 sense within the setting.

Very true, I felt the same way. Youngnyra is a character, Oldnyra is a good twoshoes cardboard cutout; she had one moment where she was interesting in S1E10 when the news of Luke's death is delivered and she looks ready to kill every Green with her bare hands, but then the hack writers have her be perfectly reasonable in the very next episode. It's a shame, because D'Arcy is obviously a very able actress and looks pretty in her wardrobe.
