I kind of hate this movie. It's a great film but I don't like what it has to say about us, and the fact that it's completely true.

This movie made me become a supporter of the Confederacy. If someone as cool as Jesse James was life long confederate, then so will I.

It doesn't have to be about murderers specifically. It should be about the way masses can't tell that inside every "Great Man" is the very same kind of creepy social outcast whom they would despise and ignore if he either didn't have the proper physical appearance for it nor a sufficiently convincing legend to make him "great".
If normalfags had any fucking sense they would worship those amongst themselves who are the best and brightest of them, not pick and choose which psycho they liked the most.

Yeah, toward the end of it all he obviously felt that way, because that's historically what happens when you achieve "greatness" and become "legendary", you realise the cattle fell for a bunch of fucking lies and bullshit and you stop wanting it. But he still wrote political death threats to northern governers and still fed into the legend whenever he could, and the whole setup to get himself shot by Bob was so that he would go down in a dramatic way and not as an ignoble suicide or a humiliating capture. Obviously at some point he was as thirsty to make a mark as Bob was, that's why he figured him out so fast, too. It's mostly subtext but it's there.
