What are some movie tropes that you fucking love?

>group of lowlife thugs try to prey on a victim
>victim is far more dangerous than they are

>remember that guy who forcibly inseminated a girl who accidentally killed his daughter in a drunk driving accident
>he's the hero of this story

This would've made for a great film until they completely destroyed the concept and made the old guy into this fucking feminist/nu-male boogeyman that is evil because he makes women give birth to his babies...or something. No one, not even the creators, were sure what his deal was but WOMAN IS UNCOMFORTABLE PLEASE BE HORRIFIED AND PLEASE FEEL SAD

The sequel was even worse.

More of a TV trope than a movie trope but
>everyone tells their side of the same story in which everyone looks like a retard except the person telling the story

How are you confused? A woman killed his daughter so he kidnapped and forcebly impregnated her so she'd birth him another kid. There's nothing confusing about that at all.

Frontier(s) is another good one. A gang of young Muslim criminals flee a riot and end up being brutally tortured and murdered by a family of psychotic neo Nazis.

That sounds pretty heroic to me. Literally the best thing you can do in that situation

>There's nothing confusing about that at all.
What's confusing is how we're seemingly supposed to see his actions as somehow horrifying and unjustified.

It's pretty clear that they wrote themselves into a corner by making the blind man far more sympathetic than the alleged protagonists, so they added the insemination to make him evil. But the movie doesn't build up to the twist at all, so it feels completely unearned.

I miss Schwarzenegger one liners
> Stick around
> Let off some steam
> I lied

Honorable mention to Dredd 2012
> Negotiations over, hotshot
> What?
> I said “hotshot”
> *shoots fireball in his mouth, melting face off*

Are we? I haven't watched it in years but I remember the movie seemed pretty sympathetic to his agony of losing his daughter. The sequel definitely did.

Dredd 2012 is something that deserved it's own tv series or multiple movies, shit flew under the radar so hard but what a great movie

I don't think kidnapping and force breeding someone cus "she killed my daughter and I want another one please" is garnering much sympathy with the audience.

I absolutely would sympathize with the guy. I might think he had gone too far, or think it was misguided because it could never lead to happiness, but I sure wouldn't shriek "HE IS EVIL!" and call for him to be stoned to death.

Othello kills his wife because he's been duped into thinking she was unfaithful. Do we think that was the best thing to do? No. Do we sympathize with him? Of course we do.
