the first is good. second and third are less good
fourth made a billion dollars but no one seems to remember anything about it, myself included
never saw the fifth I assume it's no better than a DTV sequel

First three are pure adventure kino the likes of which we'll never see again. Just enjoy the comfy fun romp through the Caribbean. Don't bother with 4 and 5.

Saw all three of the OG trilogy on opening weekend. Amazing films for the time and it was a massive cultural event. First one is still flawless and I remember while seeing the second one being a little irked by some of the script's choices with character/plot, and yeah nearly 20 years on now I don't think 2 and 3 hold up that well.

4th film is one of the only films I ever started to fall asleep in the theater to, theater was nearly empty too. No idea how it did so well.

Turned the 5th one off about 45 minutes into it when I had enough of Kaya Scodelario's character girlbossing fucking EVERYTHING better than every single male character on screen. Horrible film

The first is a really good film. I enjoyed the sequels as a kid but they sort of annoyed me when I rewatched. I think the first has a perfect level of fantastical elements and then the sequels get so magical it stops feeling like a pirate story.

I just rewatched the first 3 last week.

The first one is a near perfect adventure movie. Lightning in a bottle type movie for being based off a damn ride at Disney.

The second is my personal favorite, mostly because Davy Jones carries it so hard. However I’ll admit it starts getting too long winded.

The third one is still fun but is very bloated and suffers from a bad rushed script. They filmed 2 and 3 back to back and were writing the script for AWE as they filmed, and it shows. Reducing Davy Jones to an East India Company lackey and killing the kraken off screen is criminal. Still a fun watch but the runtime is a turn off.

Have not watched 4 and 5 but they seem like major cash grabs. Also Depp was emotionally fucked from the Bed Shitter lawsuit and it shows. Jack Sparrow isn’t the same.

Curse of the black pearl is actually good. Truly among the best piracy/ naval adventure movies. Dead man chest and At world´s end are like a single movie in 2 parts. Unnecessary yet still fun adventures. Still the original is leaps and bounds above them.

Stranger tides is a directionless mess and honestly i just didn´t watch the last one. I just assume it´s another cashgrab.

In terms of summer blockbusters from the 2000’s then it would be the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films.

the trilogy was good. the 4th one was about a woman captain or something. I remember it being very dull. it was a filler movie. the 5th one can be a hit or miss. I remember it starting good but dragging for too long. It's like an epilogue to the trilogy. But I still wouldn't reccomend watching it, because the post-credits scene has a cliff hanger that probably will never be resolved and is kind of retarded.
