Seeing how Superman now is loved by normies and casuals and pretty much everybody except in this shithole?
What went wrong with this memetastic grimdark shit that was basically done for the type of tards that love stuff from Hack Snyder?

It wasn't grimdark. Which is unfortunate because grimdark would actually suit Black Adam well. It could've also been super topical with the Palestine and Israel shit going on today, but it was ultimately bad timing + bad direction.

This is what you sound like. I don't care for Silver Age takes on comic book movies. You won't make me care. Enjoy your camp, it's not my thing.

The comic your "ah shucks" Superman is based on has an unhappy ending.

The Rock wanted to turn Black Adam into his own Superman and goal was to have Cavill’s Superman to job for Black Adam to sell his superiority. I really hate The Rock

it was nolan who started the serious grim dark shit not snyder. nolans batman. it worked for a time. but superman isnt grim dark, he isnt batman, he is a blue boy scout here to fight truth, justice, and the american way. superman was always about optimism, turning him into dark murderman was certainly a choice, but it failed

I think Nolan could have pulled off Superman. Snyder just leans too heavily into grimdark because he thinks it makes things feel "epic." Nolan can do "epic" without needing to turn a good character into a murderous sociopath. Even parts of Superman 1978, especially the first act, is definitely heavy and has tons of gravitas, but without despair and nihilism.

When will you manchildren realize that a movie simply taking itself seriously does not make it grimdark. How the fuck is Nolan Batman grimdark when it has one of the most hopeful endings to a cape trilogy?

It does desu. Nothing about Ant Man 3 felt epic to me. Because that movie didn't respect its own self. It didn't want to be seen as epic.

This is the proper way to depict Superman. Gunn kind of gets it, but it's still very much Gunn Superman. Even the DCAU cartoons would be considered grimdark by some people nowadays simply because they don't quip enough or make fun of itself.

It was Burton actually. Because it suits Batman. When he's depicted as the Tick or Superman in a bat-costume it doesn't jibe as well.

I think Gunn gets that Superman should be inspirational and optimistic, he just struggles to take things seriously enough and, in this case, just dumped every goofy comic book element into it. It worked with GotG, but this is different. Even if you want to expand the universe and have it full of heroes, it still needs to be taken more seriously. Gunn went to the opposite extreme which isn't really what anyone wanted either.

things do feel real grim, seeing a bright positive movie like superman makes people feel good again, its probably because the movie took from grant morrisions superman who is an occultist who created a hyper sigil out of the superman comics

I completely agree with your take. It's refreshing to see that someone can view this past the veneer of bias towards camp or grimdark. Both have their place but the appeal of that story is that it has balance, and ultimately does take itself seriously, without being unnecessarily edgy.
>Gunn went to the opposite extreme which isn't really what anyone wanted either.
One day someone might get it right but it's a tricky thing because you not only have to understand and care for the source material but you need to be a competent filmmaker as well. This genre is more challenging to get right as a director than it seems.
