it always surprises me how few people remember (or are aware of) how amazing the Upright Citizens Brigade sketch from late 90 Comedy Central was, to me the hardest I've ever laughed at any sketch show, just about every sketch was like 10/10 hilarious. i remember how exciting it was when the news broke that amy poehler was joining SNL not long after the show on comedy central ended a year or so before, but nothing she ever did on SNL ever touched the UCB show, if anything SNL kinda made her lame and toned her way to SNL's level of shitty normie humor

Yeah, UCB was absolutely top tier. It's a shame that that group of people +/- Comedy Central can't come together on an understanding w/r/t to streaming rights of the show. I am positive that if it was readily available to a wider audience in streaming form, and, like, vaguely advertised, that it would get new life. People fucking love Amy, so showing them something she did that's sort of a deep cut, that they might never have seen, would still probably be a smart move, despite an overall decline in her relevance (no offense or anything, just saying the iron was formerly hotter than it is presently).

I just saw the Stiller show for the first time a couple years ago and that dandruff thing unlocked ancient memories of late 80s commercials I tuned out at the time. Matt Besser was the funniest one, weird how he was the one with the shittiest career after (at least on TV, i know hes more known for live improv stuff) he did briefly have a Comedy Central show after the UCB show ended called Crossballs, it had the prank element of a fake debate show with unsuspecting people debating besser and others as characters. Besser was always the best one at fucking with people, going by the UCB hidden camera stuff they always did between sketches, and he had a prank call CD i used to own back in the early 2000s i remember buying at the UCB theater merch store i think that was the only place you could buy it as it was never commercially released

i used to listen to his podcast improv4humans regularly like a decade ago, i have no idea if he still does it but i used to get some good laughs from it, a lot of their improvised sketches (even in audiocast form) reminded me of the kind of sketches that would be on the UCB tv show, which makes sense because their shows sketches were a collection of stuff from their live improv shows and they saved the good ones to turn into sketches for the show (i think punching them up a bit more with some additional writing before filming them as televised sketched)

wow, i remember this show! yeah i think they were two of them, in the early 2000s i remember the HBO Comedy channel always ramdomly airing it in the middle of the night. one of the sketches I remember most was a whole classic of paralyzed wheelchair students who had the straw in mouth to move the wheelchair and they all talked in the stephen hawkings robot voice and the teacher was in a wheelchair and had the hawkings voice too, dont even remember the exact premise other than they were all arguing and nobody could tell who was who cuz they all had the same sounding robot voice lel i rmemeber finding it hilarious when i first saw it cuz i had just snuck back into my room after smoking a bowl outside and trying to not wake up my parents, damn i miss smoking weed and watching everything high as a teen, last fun times of my life
