What happened is that the mcu was considered infallible and they decided, like any company owned by boomers, that they needed to push for infinite growth. So they decided on 3 films a year along with multiple tv shows.
That level of oversaturation put audiences off capeshit, but it also required more personnel and stretched Feige thinner (remember, he was essentially the showrunner with every mcu film being another episode of the show). Quality declined because they focused on quantity over quality.
They're back to focusing on quality, but the quality was never very good and the illusion has been shattered since the old fans all grew up and the kids care about other things like Skibidi Toilet instead of a 30+ film franchise
