I'm glad someone else has noticed this. I don't know exactly what accounts for it, but my theory is that it's in the lensing. If you look at these two pretty similar compositions between the two series it highlights the issue: in WP, Ruse is obv playing with some film emulation that accounts for the grain that smooths out the image and makes it feel more organic, but also throws some haze in the air to balance diffuse light with the sharp edgelighting on Maus. He (or whoever DP'd it) also throws in a fill light that gives us a bit more of a look at Maus' face so that we don't lose the performance and staqes him so that the glow of the light draws our eye to the right side of the frame. On Extreme Peace, Shutlz just does a generic center-punch framing, gives us one harsh overhead with no diffusion. The result looks like youtuber shit instead of a real TV show. Part of this is probably that the grip and electric on WP were probably actual professionals who know a lot about light instead of guys who are willing to work on a show where they just yell the N word constantly and Dimes Square adjacents.
