>>212949996Terrifier was shot digitally. Even T3, though I had to check.
>Q: Parts of Terrifier 3 appear as if they were shot on film. Were they, or was this effect created in post-production?>A: A lot of that was done in post. We shot on the (ARRI) Alexa 35 which had a lot of dynamic range. There's a lot of play (with the footage) afterwards, and the post-production process is really what made it. We were trying to give it a Black Christmas sort of a feel, but yeah, that's most of that was done in post. This film was also lit in a different way. We used tungsten lighting, an old-fashioned lighting that the industry doesn't use as much anymore. It requires a lot more power, so we had to kind of figure that out, which was tricky, but it gives it a retro feel like Black Christmas.
>>212950052No wonder nobody talks about that shit anymore
This is the best meta comedy/horror since Scream. Almost as good as Deadstream, although I don't think it will be as rewatchable (partly because it's in Japanese).

M3GAN2GAN is an interesting failure. I mean, it's not a horror film, even the uncut version. But it's not a terrible action film, as in it's less shit than most cgi-fests out there and the fighting was better.
But it feels like a spy-kids type film mixed with an action. Main flaw is there's heaps of boring talking, holy shit how is this 2 hours long.
>>212950840*so tl;dr being: don't watch it it's not horror.
>>212950840They should've stuck to the 1st film's formula.
>>212951280If anything they should have gone more violent and horror leaning than the first. But hindsight is 20/20, they essentially learned the Morbius meme rule. shitty twitter memes don't equate to ticket sales.

Hello Fellow /hor/anons
Recommended me some Giallo films will' ya.
I've watched Argento, Lucio Fulci, Puppi Avetti, Bava.
>>212952616more than me then. did you see The Last Matinee? was a decent modern giallo/slasher.
>>212952663>The Last Matinee?Does it have nudes? What is your Giallo film list that you've watched so far?
>>212952679sadly no.
I've seen all fulci's stuff, most of argentos, some of bavas, and puppi avetti does not even show up on google. I'll get through them eventually.
>>212952735>I've seen all fulci's stuff,What do you think the ending of City of the Living dead and House at the Cemetery?
>>212952759house by the cemetery is one of my favourite films of all time

Someone give me some dumbass shark kinos to watch
I watched Cemetery Man this weekend. Good movie. I wasn't expecting it to be that surreal though.
The woman who keeps coming back as different characters but with the same face โ was she supposed to be Death? What was that all about? Also whatโs the meaning of the ending? Does it even have a meaning, or is it just meant to fuck you up?
>>212955554Haven't seen it yet but I assume this fits the bill.
Also another new one called Shark Girl.
Just watched Ready or Not. The last 40 minutes were kinda fun.
>>212956587Weaving is a lot of fun in it, great screams too
>>212956587I was pleasantly surprised that it was an enjoyable horror comedy.
I watched the Heretic last night, it was not good. Hugh Grant was good, but his fun delivery of lines was not enough to carry the film at all. The two leads didn't have enough to work with.
>>212956842yeah the script is not great, it thinks it's a LOT more clever than it is. Grant's character is not capital-s-Smart
>>212956377this looks great, thanks anon
>>212956912No, for someone who was shown to have built a diorama of his house I was expecting far more than one trap door.
"Religion is just a means of control" is the most lukewarm, secondary-school level take the film could manage. To hype that up all film long like he does is absurd. I liked his delivery a lot, he was entertaining. But he couldn't carry the film.
>>212954362we don't take kindly to your types 'round here

I was watching this silly jap movie last night, and it hit me that, as a non-American, I haven't seen anything baseball-related in over 20 years

>>212958526what's baseball?
>>212956587The poster tells me it's about a bride that meets an unhinged family that has a hunting tradition of sorts and then the bride turns out to be a strong independent woman that take on everyone

I'm watching Smile at /hor/'s recommendation
>>212961360when you're done, watch Smile 2
>>212961360>>212961467Was surprised how much I enjoyed these movies. I've seen people compare them to It Follows, but I think the movies are only similar on a really superficial level. The whole structure of the films is totally different, and I like the Smiles a lot more.
Also the monster in It Follows is more like a force of nature, whereas the Smile monster has a personality and explicit goals which is broadly more interesting to me.
>>212961467If I have enough time after I wash my car (the love of my life) I'll watch smile 2

>>212963832It's okay, anon. Plenty of face-blind people live happy and fulfilling lives.
>>212950298>partly because it's in Japanesehow does that affect rewatchability?
Hey, I'm looking for the name of a movieโmaybe it was Italian, from the 80s, 90s, or 2000s I think. I only remember the ending, and besides being a bit of a dud, I recall that one of the main characters goes to maybe fill up the car with gas or something like that, and when he comes back, he sees a living piece of the monsterโsome kind of shapeless thingโon the car window. Have some ideas?

The Tomb (1986) Fantasy/Horror
>A tomb robber steals artifacts from an unmarked tomb in Egypt and sells them to different archeologists in America. This displeases the immortal woman whose tomb has been desecrated, so she follows the artifacts to America, where she busies herself extracting revenge for the theft.

>>212970433>>212970854>Baseball is the most American sportYes, but it could also be argued that football is the most american sport since it's less popular/played in other countries as opposed to baseball.
>demographic changes make the sport rapidly unpopularWrong, it's not demographics it's generational changes. With the increasing amount of fast, readily available and more varied forms of entertainment in the past 30 years, many millennials, especially the younger ones, and even more so zoomers, simply found the sport to be too slow and boring, people's patience and attention spans have gone to shit in the past 20 years, you would agree i'm certain. And evidence against your demographics claim is the simple fact baseball has always been extremely popular among many latin american people, it's the number one sport for cubans, dominicans and venezuelans, also very popular with puerto ricans and mexicans, plus it's always been a sport american blacks have been involved in and excelled at, and as you know it's also popular with the japanese, koreans and taiwanese as well, so i think your "changing demographics" argument doesn't have much of a leg to stand on.
>Japanese like baseball because it's so traditionally AmericanDon't know if you can make the claim that's WHY they love it, it could be they simply enjoyed how the game is played and its pace, could be that it nicely suits the overall japanese personality.
>homogeneous population means the sport stays a cultural stapleThey are more patient and are not bothered by the slow pace of the game, plus their other major team sports leagues aren't as strong as their baseball one. And i would bet even there the viewership has declined.

>>212952506I'm in my mid-30s and Skinamarink is the only film ever made that successfully captures what it feels like to have nightmares as a small child. Totally helpless, reality itself seems to go right over your head, threads flow in and out of focus, and it's all so casually abstract. I had intense nightmares as a child and it hit that totally abandoned sensation right on the head. Felt like I was watching a movie about a version of me I'd forgotten ever existed and didn't realize I still had the ability to empathize with to that extent.
Not for everybody, and I don't blame people for hating it. Might be necessary viewing as an adult if you need to refamiliarize yourself with how little kids see the world. Should take about 15 minutes to figure out if it's for you.

I'm trying to find a movie but I'm kind of hazy on the details. I think the trailer came out a year or 2 ago so either it's fairly recent or coming soon, but it had something to do with the protag being a doctor but also secretly a serial killer, or he was hunting a serial killer I can't remember. Pretty sure it was either Korean or Japanese, and had heavy I Saw the Devil vibes. Any guesses at what it might have been? I asked in /film/ as well but figured I'd try here as well.

>>212972884But that's a lie. He told you the truth and you had to make up an excuse because you're a foreigner with an OBSESSED fetish. He told you exactly the actual reasons why. Baseball got more boring, tickets got more expensive (and ironically probably still are with empty stadiums because they don't adapt), the sport of the game was ruined in the eyes of wipipo because every other star batter was demonstrably on HGH or something similar or using a corked bat, and it's just not very fun to watch all things considered. It's certainly no NFL with instant replays and good camerawork progressing along the field.
But I stopped watching NFL too because of all the kneelberging, now I just watch horror movies and play videogames.

I saw Hereditary for the first time. Holy fuck, the movie's still with me, how is it not more popular? Any other movies where the movie is mellowing out towards the end, only to make the last 10 minutes absolutely terrifying?
I also saw Late Night with the Devil. Really enjoyed the analogue horror vibe, including "blink-and-you-miss-it" scares that were hidden throughout it, even though the climax wasn't as frightening due to how over-the-top it was (which I suspect might've been intentional, considering how they added a few things for people to chuckle during)

>>212980172If you thought Hellraiser was bad, your horror watching future is going to be quite dim
>>212980172kino to some, slop to others.
>>212980188I mean for most people, unless you're picrel, I feel like most of what you watch of any genre - even stuff you like - is going to be mediocre at best. but for Hellraiser, even trying to be charitable with the supernatural elements, so much of it is either plot convenience or a legitimate plot hole. I guess most people just like it's aesthetic, as there's so much you have to ignore beyond that to enjoy it.
>>212980200slop and a half, sadly
>>212979534>>212979556ok One Cut of the Dead was pretty genius. was wondering wtf the anon was meaning about it being funny but it had me laffin real good as it went on. And the credits scene was icing on top.
Sidenote: Also something funny is in the first scene they're talking about how the building is creepy and good for a horror film. I'm like hey... this location is the same one as that Senritsu episode. Unmistakable. They also do really long takes in that and break the fourth wall.
>>212980308the cenobite designs, the idea of beings for whom pleasure and pain have melded, doug bradleys commanding voice and delivery, kirsty is cute, and the sfx in the reanimation scene are excellent. you're on a different wavelength if that's the worst film you've seen.
>>212980485it's not the worst, but it's up there. I think some of the designs are interesting, and some of the ideas are interesting, but there's more problems than anything. most of the acting is shit, but that's not the worst part.
>Larry just so happens to cut his hand on an exposed nail while moving a mattress upstairs>just so happens to go in the room where Frank used the cube to jerk off, and the blood drops on the floor>this has no real significance to Larry's character, pure convenience>somehow Frank's "essence" was kept in the house/under the floorboard (even though he says he escaped?), so the blood helped him start to regenerate (would the same thing have happened if he used the cube on the street and little Johnny fell on it the next day and scraped his knee?)>needs a small amount of blood to get most of the way there, but then needs multiple full bodies to fully regenerate>he somehow knows this, no explanation>he somehow escapes the cenobites, these transcendent extradimensional beings, no explanation>Kirsty just so happens to find and solve the box before the cenobites have their way with herthere's more, but that's the meat of it. it's a shit story.

>>212980939>do you think the average dude jumps out of trees, does backflips while fighting, and gets up after being smacked down by someone/something more than twice their size? No, that's the entire point I made. Stop hallucinating and pay attention. That kind of capeshit DOES NOT HAPPEN in the original film. Dutch gets wasted by the Predator and at no point does he even mildly hurt him. If anything the native men are exactly as stupidly powerscaled in Prey. At one point he's shooting arrows into him and flying around like he's brown Hawkeye.

Been recommended a TV series called Slasher. The first episode has been pretty good so far.

also they look sad
>>212980882>>he somehow escapes the cenobites, these transcendent extradimensional beings, no explanationThat's the one thing I can agree with you on. The movie makes it look straightforward; spilling blood at the site of the ritual will reinvigorate the flesh of the person who got taken to hell there, bringing him back to the world of the living, but even the cenobites don't recognize this as a thing that happens.
It makes even less sense in 2.
Still a top 10 horror movie for me

pretty good
characters not just there to be killed but you actually cared for what happened to them even if you knew what would happen
sharks weren't just mindless killing machines just regular animals conditioned to eat humans
solid 6/10 film
Another shitty adaptation of a Lovecraft short story. They turn the whole thing into fucking family drama. What a wasted oportuny.
