The movie bombed overseas and it did similar numbers domestically to Man of Steel without adjusting for inflation. It underperformed and while it won't get Gunn fired it's not a good sign for his DCU especially since the biggest DC draw Batman isn't going to be back in theaters before 2027 at the earliest.
Gunn is stupid. If you're going to a Superman and friends film you need to include Superman's biggest box office draw of a friend. Supergirl, Clayface, rebooted Wonder Woman, and The Authority aren't going to make your DCU profitable.

Save for Mantis it's all the same thing. He writes women as men and the capitulate romance and love and sex out of, like, duty than any real understanding that Gunn can muster. I've seen enough of the man's movies to get a sense of how he writes and I am left wanting. This as the first step to a new DCCU isn't great but I feel like it'll fare way better than Fantastic Four.
